So far the device has operated as advertised. It is very simple to use, and seems reasonably accurate. Did register 0 when no alcohol had been consumed. It showed.10 after consumption of several drinks, and 45-50 minutes later after food consumption, has dropped to .08. which seemed reasonable.
I should have purchased this months ago as I use it all the time. It is very helpful after a night out to make sure I didn't go over board before heading home. It is small and it works great and I want to buy one for all of my friends now.
I bought this item about two months ago. I've owned other pocket BAC analyzers in the past, so I am aware of how to use them properly. Anybody having trouble with theirs, I highly recommend you wait 15-20 minutes with NOTHING in your mouth before you test, don't blow any saliva into the unit, blow steady (it usually takes a bit longer than the 5 seconds advertised), and the number shown will be accurate.
Tried it on four people, seemed to work well. If you just took a drink and had alcohol still in your mouth read high even though she only had one drink.
Have used the BACtrack several times. Tested with no alcohol consumption and various levels of consumption. The readings seem to be consistent and within reason based on the number of drinks. What I have no way to gauge is if the readings themselves are accurate compared to a police BAC test.
Most of the time when I try to use my BAC keychain, the battery sign blinks when it gets down to 23 seconds and then turns off. I tried replacing the battery using 3 different brands of AAA batteries, and it will allow 1 test, 2 maximum. Do I need to get it recalibrated?
