Issue with MN state issue

Turbo Tax should be able to determine from info entered into federal return if need to do anything for state return. I did not, but it took way too long to get to that information and understand that!
What's great about it: Mostly easy to use, transferred data well
What's not so great: Issue with MN state threw me for a loop, took too much extra time to understand!

An Alternative Universe

I have over 50 years of experience as an Information Technology Consultant. In my professional opinion, you have succeeded to offer an intelligent and effective system that eases the otherwise painful and punitive horrors of dealing with IRS conventions and strange explanations which many people encounter in filing their tax returns. Your staff gets it right with an Artificial Intelligent approach which reduces the daunting task of reporting your financials and either paying taxes or getting refunds. If you really wanted to make an contribution to the mental health of the tax payer, you might consider a voice response interaction to filling out the blanks. Many people talk a lot faster and with more accuracy than typing on a device whose keyboard is designed to slow you down. That would almost make it fun instead of rigorous and negative chore. I admire your current evolution to success and wish you well in improving the product.
What's great about it: The options, alternatives, and user freindly environment is like shock and awe. The approach is commendable.
What's not so great: If I were aprofessional tax preparer, I would be offended because your software and error checking actually works.

Good w/issues

The application on the CD was faulty and would not load. But after a very helpful lady on the call desk I was able to download the software online. Doing my taxes was quick and easy. The application very helpful.
What's great about it: Going through the process was quick and easy.
What's not so great: The CD would not load the application.

Good Except for the Stupid Space in Front of EIN

It was great overall with the interview portion of TurboTax 2015, and I was even able to import my 2nd employer's W-2 seamlessly. But, when I tried to e-File, I kept getting stopped for an invalid EIN?? After going through the self-help forums, I finally figured out that there's a bug in this year's software that somehow inserted a single space in front of the EIN on my W-2!!! It was very frustrating and I'm disappointed that such a simple issue was overlooked by Intuit's developers. Please take a look at this! I was finally able to resolve the error by deleting the space, thankfully.
What's great about it: I was able to quickly import last year's taxes/info
What's not so great: Space in front of EIN stopped by e-File
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good - but one needed improvement

Overall a positive experience. Colorado state return asks how much of my military retirement income should be exempt. The help function leads one to believe all of it can be exempt, but that is never true. $20K from age 55 to 60 and $24K after that. 1. TurboTax should have this in the help file but it wasn't clearly defined. 2. TurboTax knows my age and should calculate this for me and recommend an exemption amount.
What's great about it: Walked me through the return process - easy to use
What's not so great: One part of state return was inadequate
