Software was Quirky this Year

I had to pay state income taxes last year in a non-resident state, but I could not get rid of it - no need for me to file this year in that state.
Often asked me the same question again and again.
Also made several mistakes on business income. Had to go back and correct.
May have to consider someone else's software next year
What's great about it: Covered the bases
What's not so great: Seems to really struggle, asked lots of dumb questions

Found my best refund!

It was easy enough to use but I wish that the program could recover the previous years info!
What's great about it: Liked Step by Step method
What's not so great: It didn't retain my previous years returns!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used Turbo Tax for the last 18 years. Its improved each year since I have been using it. Keep up the great work on this application.

We have used Turbo Tax for several years now, Just follow the instructions, This is basically what the professionals are doing.
We don't have any complicated deductions so it is easy for us to use.

Complex Situation

I have a relatively complex situation. It includes investments with dividends, capital gains distribution and trading. There is also a rental home and on sole proprietorship. 95% percent of the work is great. I love the capability to download lots of 1099-B data and autofill the forms. However, Form 1116 support is still weak. You don't seem to be able to map one 1099-DIV to multiple foreign countries (perhaps one owns multiple foreign stocks). Overall, good marks.
What's great about it: Speedy downloads of my 1099s from my brokers.
What's not so great: Support for Form 1116 is weak.

Bad programming

1. Software says efiling mandatory for NYS but gives option to print for mail submission, then never allows us to go back and efile properly.
2. Software incorrectly determined estimated tax for both federal and state. It estimated approximately the same amounts as last year even though we are getting a refund of over $10,000 (federal) and almost $4,000 (state).
