Let me know how much I need to deduct in advance

After I spent a couple days figuring out all my sales taxes, which were higher than my state income taxes, and put in all the info, TT informed me the standard deduction was the way to go. Why doesn't TT tell me in advance how much I need to deduct so I won't waste my time doing that?

Several redundant steps were required which should be eliminated to expedite the process and data input.
What's great about it: Easy to maneuver through
What's not so great: Should maintain personal data to place onto other forms

After using TurboTax for several years, it all seems to flow in a thorough, straightforward manner.
Minor issue with 1099-R, box 14 amount being 0.00 on IN state tax.
Some confusion on IN form regarding a deductible contribution to a state college or university that caused me to enter my contribution in the wrong place. Took an extra 5 minutes to rectify the situation.
What's great about it: Seems to flow in a thorough, straightforward manner.
What's not so great: Minor issue with 1099-R, box 14

import data from investment companies makes it easy and seamless, My income data from State Street - never works for importing. Overall, great software, remembering doing it all by hand, what a chore.
What's great about it: Like the way it takes previous years info to the new return, walk through or navigate on your own.
What's not so great: updates...
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Complications efiling
on March 9, 2016
Posted by: RichardGR
I ran TurboTax 2015 on my old XP pc. Taxes compiled easily. Was unable to efile from pc. Had to install program on MacBook Pro, copy file to Mac, efiled with no problems. I wasted hours and was not able to talk to anyone. Online help kept telling me it was my router, my internet connection, etc that was preventing the efile from connecting to the internet. Plan to run TurboTax 2016 on the Mac which should solve the problem.
What's great about it: Dealt with main areas of need
What's not so great: Received Error 2 too many times when trying to efile.

State tax stuck in loop. had to get John and walk me through it. Thought "free state" meant free filing, too.
What's great about it: GOOD FINDING REFUNDS
What's not so great: difficult to change entry
