All in one day!

The biggest problem I had was not having downloaded the FY2015 software, and started entering my 2015 data with the FY2014 software. I asked support to help me get the software found and downloaded. Very patient agents!! So the big problems were mine only! Otherwise everything was as smooth as silk!
Let me add that requiring a nickname, and not allowing more than one filer to have the same as someone else, is incredibly short-sighted
What's great about it: All but 'CONS' below.
What's not so great: I missed a sign out option on each screen

SSA1099 no where to put repayments, needs to be fixed. Rules for nickname are ridiculous
What's great about it: Easy to fill out forms
What's not so great: Some forms hard to find
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

In truth I was pleasantly surprised as to how people-friendly my first Turbotax experience was. I highly recommend this program.

I feel comfortable that all areas needing attention while preparing a return are covered, because I go through the step-by-step process. Yes, it may take awhile, but it's important to get it done right the FIRST time:)
What's great about it: I love how TT populates information into the correct forms as you complete a return...
What's not so great: there are none with the basic returns....

Just fine for federal but not so good for state...
What's great about it: federal return
What's not so great: state return is too complicated for boots, tools and dues deductions. won't put all deductions on schedule UE.

Great for Federal, Waste of $$ for State

Software is excellent for Federal returns, BUT total junk for the state returns.
The software is lousy for state returns... especially partial year State Returns. The State section give little to no instruction and less explanation than the state's actual form with lines & all (more below).
I had to basically do my deductions twice... once for federal, then comb back through all of them again, and separately keep a spreadsheet of each individual contributor to each individual deduction and which state it belonged to. This was necessary when doing the state returns.
It would have been MUCH easier if there were an option while doing the federal to keep track of each state's allocation of the various deductions and earnings.
Here is an example of how useless turbotax was for doing the state return. There was a field for "interest expense," and "taxes," with a listed federal amount and a blank box asking for the state's amount. There was no explanation of how to figure out what amount should go in the box. No way to guess how to calculate the amount. There wasn't even a definition of "interest expense," as that term is not used in the federal section. There was not a link to learn more, and googling couldn't return something specific to state partial year returns. I got a pretty good guess after simply searching google for my state's instructions that go with the return (turbotax couldn't even do that). I got an even better idea after searching the PDFs of the federal return/schedules for numbers that matched what they listed in the "federal amount" column and matching those numbers with numbers on my 1099s and other paperwork. So I could at least guess the sorts of items that are counted as "interest expenses." There were several fields like this, which are obvious in hindsight but could have been just as obvious right away with a very short and simple "learn more" link. And possibly an embedded image of the actual federal form from which the federal numbers were pulled.
The CPA clarified the problem immediately... after a two hour wait to get one (in early March when they should not be too busy). So at least there was someone at Turbotax who could provide the basic instruction that should have been coded into it in the first place.
What's great about it: Excellent CPA support to make up for poor instructions for State partial-year returns
What's not so great: Was much harder to do state partial-year returns with Turbotax than without it
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

Step-by-step instructions all along the way. You really can't go wrong.
What's great about it: Walking me through all of the detail and allowing me to read the help boxes
What's not so great: I don't like that I run Windows XP and I won't be supported next year for the 2016 tax season
