Turbo Tax people, thanks for making tax filing a manageable and doable task with our complex tax system, especially for the common Joe-blow citizen!
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is user friendly, understandable, and complete for common guy.
What's not so great: Have none as of yet.

I've used Turbo Tax for 3 years. It is easy. I'll keep using it.
What's great about it: Easy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Additional Fees UGH!

I can understand fees for insurance, but i was surprised by the ADDITIONAL FILING FEES THAT WERE MENTIONED NOWHERE ON THE BOX OR ON YOUR ADVERTISING! Though they were not outrageous as some others, it was a surprise. Had we owed money and were short and filing at the last minute it might have been a problem. Think you should be MORE UPFRONT about UNDISCLOSED FEES.
Otherwise, I think this is a good alternative and fair. I especially like the ability to insure the results.
What's great about it: Seems to be thorough but would like more info on what you can claim on charitable donations
What's not so great: ADDITIONAL FILING FEES!

I have been using TurboTax for over 20 years and have NEVER had a problem or issue. It walks you step by step in easy to understand language. I would HIGHLY recommend TurboTax to anyone that has a relatively non-complicated tax return.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions with excellent presentation
What's not so great: Nothing!

First Time Alone

Husband passed away last year after we had completed our tax return working together... as we have for 25 years. So this was nerve racking to attempt alone but I did it!! I printed and went over every number to make sure it was entered correctly before I filed. I did see that I had one state return included so I was surprised by the charge for e-filing the state return. Form said included if I bought the protection plan, yet still charged me so that was confusing. Protection plan sounded easy but very confusing to purchase and understand the details of disclaimer. Family life questions don't include widow info so misleading.
What's great about it: Liked previous year fill-in where possible
What's not so great: Needed help understanding initial instructions after CD inserted
