Beat the fraudsters!

An email phishing scam resulted in the release of the 2015 W-2 tax form information at our company. I was so worried they'd file a false return before I could file, but I was able to finish, file, and get confirmation that mine was accepted. And the extra security steps helped me feel I'd actually be the one receiving my refund.

Anyone who has a computer needs to get TURBO TAX

Federal / State Carryover Capital Gains / Losses

State Carryover information did not carryover from federal or last years return, i.e. California 540, Schedule D form / worksheet.

This was my first year filing jointly as a married person and I was worried this would be complex. But Turbo Tax made it really easy. Plus, I got a nice refund.
What's great about it: Easy and thorough
What's not so great: paying for state return.

Painless Process

I have been using Turbo Tax for almost 20 years. I almost always get a great refund.
What's great about it: Ease of use of software.
What's not so great: once software changed answers that I inputted.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
