I have been using Turbo Tax for over ten years and have had no major problems. With the annual changes in the various tax codes, Turbo Tax does a great job simplifying things in a manner that you can figure out what is happening. I particularly like the charitable contribution aid. It makes it simple to calculate, and provides the maximum benefit allowed.
What's great about it: Systemically walks you through, yet allows you to back up and review every step.
What's not so great: Sometimes the "Learn More" answers seem a little vague.

Awesome help from phone support
on March 6, 2016

I had two mortgages this year, and one related to a separate condo with a home office deduction. Turbo Tax was hard to figure out how to enter the taxes/interest so that the amounts went to the right forms.
I called customer support for help - was able to ask for a call back which I love. The person who helped me was extremely knowledgeable, I was able to authorize him to look in the back end, and assist me. He stayed with me as I made the changes needed, and was not rushing me to finish. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Turbo Tax. Keep up the good work!
What's great about it: Phone Support
What's not so great: Confusing on complicated issue
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Getting Better
on March 6, 2016

Worked well, but was frustrated because of the way I do my return - that is, I add information as forms arrive in the mail or email. It seemed like every time I wanted to insert something, I had to upload a new version - something that took about 15 minutes. This was different from the past.
What's great about it: Was able to find everything I needed
What's not so great: Frustrating that I had to keep uploading new versions

Losing Utility
on March 6, 2016

Telling us to read the federal tax instructions and forms for something that is becoming increasingly common (use of home equity loan proceeds for other than home improvements) is aggravating. That is the sort of help for which I get Turbo Tax. Also, its' implementation of schedule C leaves a bit to be desired.
What's great about it: The import from previous year reduces tedious repitition and reminds of past year's decisions.
What's not so great: Could use better implementation of home equity loan interest

Workers under the age of 18 do not have to pay the local RITA tax in Ohio. You are overtaxing my overworked kids!
