Don't like the fact that we have to pay to electronically transfer state taxes.
What's great about it: 99.9%
What's not so great: Misc Income hard to get back to to correct

Needs to explain how taxes are computed. Could be much better at explaining and showing tax impact of investments.

TurboTax Deluxe

The program loaded in less than 3 mins. I was able to complete my taxes and e-file them in less than 2 hrs,( including state). It compared my deductions filling long form verses short form and gave me the choice to choose which way to file. It asked for all the forms I have, to file my taxes and more.
What's great about it: Ease of use, time saving, and cost less than having someone else doing it.
What's not so great: Could not down load my W-2 and other forms.

taming the taxes

Turbo tax guides you through every step. It allows you the chance to stop and gather info if needed and think about what options you have. That is not available in an accountant's office. I can work at my own pace and feel like there is no pressure. I also know I have the most updated info, and I can always ask for help if I need it. I have been using it for years and it makes it easy just to import info from the previous year. Now my kids all use it.
What's great about it: makes it seem very straightforward. like the fact that there is help available if i need it.
What's not so great: nothing about turbo tax- woud like bigger refunds, but wouldn't we all !

Been using this product for over 25 years. It gets better every year. Just wish I didn't have to use it...haha

Problems with "Help" This Year

Overall I love TT and will continue using each year. Thanks for bringing back the old "Deluxe" for those of us with just a few stock sales or a very small Schedule C. This year, however, I was very frustrated with the help links within the system. Anytime I clicked on a blue font link to find out more about an item it kicked me out of the system and I had to start over. If I hadn't saved my return in a while I lost data. I am pretty knowledgeable about taxes so I just avoided the links, they just didn't work for me at all. If I needed to research something I went online and searched other sources for the answer.
What's great about it: Easy to use, have used it for years, accurate, love the free Federal E-Filing
What's not so great: This year for the first time I had problems with the links to "help" within the system.
