Easy peace tax return

I have been doing my own tax returns since 2004 and let me tell you, it is very simple, anyone can do them. Unless you have investments, business and very complicated tax returns then you should hire a tax professional, otherwise do them yourself
What's great about it: simple to do
What's not so great: Not sure if I could get more with a professional tax preparer
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Not so good an experience this year, aggravating.

Something has been changed since the last several years. I worked about halfway through my return and then saved it to take a break. When I went back, all my forms were there but I could not get my return to come back up and continue. I had to start again at the beginning and re-enter all the information I had previously entered. Since I no longer trusted the program, I finished the return in one sitting. I Searched all my files and can find no trace of that first return, only the forms from entering my deductions. Then, while trying to pay with a credit card to file my state forms the "pay" window kept timing out before I received the e-mail with the six digit code. Think I'll be looking for an alternate route next year. Not worth the aggravation.
What's great about it: Guidance through return process
What's not so great: Could not get return to come back up after break

I don't know what I would do without Turbo Tax. I've done my returns for over a decade using TT, right after I found that a tax preparer missed a legitimate deduction. Doing my taxes with TT saves my money (from a preparer) and frees me up from worry about missing something. It walks me through every area of taxes with yes or no questions, then has the areas to fill in based on my responses. I also think it's so convenient to have data pulled up from last year, and also apply the information to state taxes. If Turbo Tax double the cost of their software, I would buy it without blinking an eye. Whoever came up with TT, I hope they are rich beyond belief because they provide a very valuable product. Thanks...
What's great about it: Saves hours of research and takes out the uncertaintly
What's not so great: None - worth every penny...
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

When the application is thinking, or re-starting, there's nothing on the monitor that tells me it's working, that it hasn't gone to sleep.

More than yes/no

Instead of a simple "yes" or "no" where one clicks at some pages, it would be helpful to have a brief statement, especially on pages that have a lot of text, e.g. "Yes, I have [blah blah blah]" or "No, [blah blah blah] does not apply to me". Started free federal online, saw that I didn't qualify for the free version, then tried to load my info into a file that I created from a purchased TurboTax disc, but I couldn't load it.
What's great about it: As easy to use as previous years
What's not so great: Needs a few more words at the places to click
