I love turbo tax been using over 5 years now it's easy to use and they walk you through every step.

I do taxes for my 86 year old mother-in-law. She has a very small pension plus social security. The detail required in the step-by-step mode for deductions makes no sense, especially when she has so little income; too much detail in the medical portion. Stepping through the detail of everything else makes little sense when she has paid no taxes that she will be able to get a return on. The software should be smart enough to determine there is no chance for a return when there is so little income and jump straight to the short form and be done with it. It is time consuming for no reason in her case; I will not use TT for her return next year; I will go straight for the short forms and be done in 15-30 minutes. TT is overly complicated for a simple return.
The uncorrected error: Form 1040A Third Party Designee. There is no question in step-by-step in reference to a Third Party Designee. The only way to enter it is to go to forms; of course you are unaware of this until the very end. Further, there is no way to add the Third Party Designee in the online version - per Icollins on TT Community

What's great about it: Easy of use, overall a good product.
What's not so great: Too much unnecessary detail in step-by-step. Uncorrected errors.

easier each year

as long time user of turbotax I can verify that the process gets easier and more streamlined each year. everything has already been thoroughly researched and formatted for a simple "fill in the blanks" non-stressful process. all irs regs researched so you can have full confidence your return will meet all requirements. feel very safe and secure with new added security measures this year. takes a few minutes longer but definitely worth the sense of security. finer than frogs hair.

Only one suggestion, otherwise this was pretty easy. On the first pass, it asked me for dividends and interest before the section which asked about downloading this information from an institution (i.e. TDAmeritrade). So initially I thought I would have to key in all that info (ugh), so I skipped it until I came to the download section and was then relieved to see I did not have to key in the info. Maybe put the download steps before asking about dividends or tell the user to skip over to the download section?
