Another Year with the Turbo Guys and Dolls

I have used Turbo since 2006. Can't imagine tax time without it. It is so easy and clear. It even guides you though the steps to make the proper entries for an inheritance carry-over. I can't imagine how Geithner missed the steps for his out-of-the ordinary income.
Prior to Turbo, I filed my taxes using the paper and pencil method. It is great to be out of the cave-man system.
What's great about it: Having basic information pre-loaded. Saves a lot of typing!
What's not so great: I keep looking for Cons. Haven't found any yet.

It's very helpful to me to have Turbo Tax to walk me through the steps, remind me of things I might be missing and double check that every box is filled that needs to be. The valuation tool for donated goods is very helpful.
However, it was very confusing when I accidentally opened my return in the on-line version of Turbo Tax even though I had the software on my computer. To add to the confusion, it turns out you can file with the Deluxe version even though you have sold your home in the tax year. But you have to upgrade to Premier version to report home sales in the on-line version. What sense does that make?
It also bothers me that you have to pay additional money to file your state return on line. We bought the program saying it does state taxes and then they charge you another 50% of purchase price to file them.
What's great about it: Helped me find all the deductions (love the charitable goods worksheets that price donated items for me).
What's not so great: Difference in on-line and disk version regarding home sales and what version of turbo tax you use.

Done and Gone

Have used Turbo-tax for many years. Each year it gets easier because of your enhancements and a growing familiarity with the software. As people know what and how to gather the info beforehand, it makes the process flow much better.
What's great about it: Easy to use, plain English, lots of help displays
What's not so great: a few questions can be hard to answer and more help in finding the answer would be good. (amount of IRA RMD, etc).

Good Software Poor Personal Contact

This is excellent software. It is easy to follow step by step process or go to the area you choose. The most disappointing thing to me is that it is impossible to contact a live person to answer simple questions about the program. For example, I wanted to know if I could get my refund by check but let the IRS deduct the cost from the refund. I could find no way to talk to someone which delayed by ability to file while sitting at the computer that night. I would give a Five Star rating if I could have contacted someone.
What's great about it: Easy to Maneuver through the process
What's not so great: Not enough feedback as to why W-2s could not be auto filled

I've used this software for several years and will continue to use it. I also recommend it to others who are looking for a tax software package for their individual use.
What's great about it: Questionnaires made it easy to follow
What's not so great: Nothing really -- I had to google a few things for clarity

Never easy

Always nerve wracking. Turbo Tax is a good product, but I seldom feel comfortable that I am following the instructions.
What's great about it: Walking steps helpful
