SC TAX

I've used turbo tax for years and find it easy and thorough. This year, however, I found that it transferred long term gains (of which 44% are exempt in SC) from line 16 on the federal return; line 15 is the correct line to transfer.
What's great about it: automatically transfers
What's not so great: Picks up wrong number for long term captial gains

I love the program and have used it every year for 15 years.
What's great about it: It is the easiest program to use. I was able to quickly and efficiently enter all my charitable contributions.

A true friend!

I began using Turbo Tax about 6 years ago, and would not attempt to do our taxes without it. Because we itemize, it was necessary to enter items that were donated to determine the value. If I had to take a list of items for each donation to a tax return office, it would take forever to print my lists of donations. And I don't think they would get me the biggest deductions since it takes a long time to put the acceptable value on each item. Using Turbo Tax also gives me such peace of mind, knowing they would catch any mistakes. When I print out my return and see all the different forms needed, I know I could never have done that myself! I consider Turbo Tax to be my BFF (best filer forever), even though I see him only once a year! He's a great friend!
What's great about it: Explanations, has more patience than my husband, added security that it is correct
What's not so great: Occasionally, it asked for something using unfamiliar terms

I found Turbo Tax to be easy to use, informative and thorough in walking you through every aspect of your filling. However, I think that either Turbo Tax or the States should reconsider charging for filing of the state returns. This is a benefit to the states and should be provided at no cost to the end user. if it is Turbo Tax that is charging, then that should stop as well.
What's great about it: Easy to Use, informational, provides great gudance.
What's not so great: Having to pay to file state return

HOME OFFICE DEDUCTION

I LEARNED FROM A REAL ESTATE TAX ATTORNEY THAT INSTEAD OF USING A % OF OVERAL HOME SIZE, WHICH IN MY CASE WAS 7% I COULD HAVE USED TOTAL ROOMS FOR THE %.
THIS WOULD HAVE ALLOWED FOR A 20% HOME OFFICE USAGE.
HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR TURBO TAX WILL HAVE THAT OPTION.
