Another step backwards

firstly, this year's version didn't import last year's Turbo Tax file (total garbage and had to retype everything).
After so many years, I will definitely research other providers next year.

Simple and easy

This is the easiest way to do personal taxes. We have used Turbotax now for over 15 years.
What's great about it: Ease of finding deductions, and Audit chance checking at the end

Need the ability to KEEP charitable deductions in

I track my charitable deductions on a spreadsheet and I provide a separate spreadsheet for my spouse to complete. For ease of recording, we keep both spreadsheets in alpha order - it's simpler!
When it comes time to enter the items into Turbo Tax, the charities are in the order that they were entered the previous year which is more or less random as the years went by.
While I can change to alphabetical order when I'm entering the next deduction, once that transaction is completed, the charities REVERT BACK TO THE ORDER THEY WERE IN FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR. Why can't the taxpayer be permitted to put the charities in alphabetical order ONCE and have them STAY that way? It can't be that hard!

What's not so great: Annoying - I hate doing taxes!

Smooth as silk

This is the 4th year I've done my own returns with TurboTax. I don't have an extremely complex filing, but I love that it picks up so much information from past filings now. Most importantly, I get a clear indication when one or more line items may throw an audit flag. Couldn't be happier with the results and I'll definitely be back in 2017.
What's great about it: Blew through Federal and 2 States returns in 1 afternoon (and it's ony 2:30!).
What's not so great: For some reason it didn't automatically pick up my W-2 info this year (it worked last year)

Having done my own taxes for over 40 yrs, I find it hard to do follow all your steps 1,2,3 which to med seem out of order ie deductions should be broken down Medical, Donations, Taxes instead of having to ask all the stupid questions first which seem redundant and totally out of order. I have a hard time visualizing the form even though I can switch to it the questions do not seem to follow along with the form. It would be easier to see the entire form to see were I was working.
What's great about it: keeps a running total
What's not so great: Having to go through the same questions to return to return
