simple tax filer

don't like windows 7, 8 or 10, never used Vista. have an all-in-one win 10 machine but don't use it much. guess i'll have to use it next year. at it now has a dvd drive i added a week ago to load program I don't use downloaded programs, don't trust most of them. As for this year tax was fast took less than hour.
What's great about it: ease of use and options to choose from
What's not so great: it's no longer an XP friendly program

Easy step by step

I've been using Turbo Tax for the past 10 years and it's easy step by step approach is great. I used to use H&R Block and they used the "copy and paste" approach from the previous year, charged big bucks and I figured I could do the same thing as easily as them. It's easy, and I save big bucks every year on tax prep.
What's great about it: Walks you through every catagory

Doing it for years

This has been a God send! I used to do my own taxes by hand. Would take two weeks yearly. My wife finally convinced me to have a "pro" do it, but I think that all they did was turbo tax. So I said, forget that. Thus began my start with Turbotax. It has been terrific. Take the pain out of tax season.
What's great about it: So easy. Ports info from previous years. Less work.
What's not so great: Occasionally need help.

Disappointed

Program has always been great. It helps to keep your entries organized so you don't miss any opportunities. I get why adding an ID verification is being used to combat fraud. Unfortunately, this is the first year that this solution has been implemented and I'm not a fan. Since SSN's have been secured with less disclosure and more masking on various forms of information, the Drivers License is now the easiest way to steal a persons identity. I want to limit exposure. Not perfect but this will be the first year in 15 that I will file by mail!
What's great about it: Software calculates all of your entries so you don't mis-calculate.
What's not so great: 2015 version is first year I have to provide my ID information to e-file

Doesn't get easier

I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years to file my taxes, and each year seems to get easier. The help is actually helpful, and being able to switch between the Form view and the Wizard view has been invaluable.
What's great about it: Step-by-step guidance is invaluable
What's not so great: Unclear sometimes how conclusions are made

Consistent and simple every year

Covers the gamut. For some reason, it took several tries and an update to get to the health insurance portion. Otherwise, I'm happy.
