I have been using TT for 20 years and am very happy. It does all the complicated work and lets you know what you need to add. Our tax code is ridiculously complex so it takes me 10-20 hours all in to do my taxes as there is always more information to get and things to correct, double check and then review. TT helps me through the process and I trust it. I believe TT has made a very complicated process as simple as possible. My only complaint is that it is sometimes difficult to navigate back to the place I need and/or find what I am looking for...sometimes the information is collected in areas that I thought was elsewhere (such as contributions for SEP IRAs are not with retirement accounts but in section on my business at he end) I own my own business as does my wife. Very satisfied.
What's great about it: easy to use, finds all the things you need for you, accurate
What's not so great: sometimes a little difficult to navigate as have to go through many screens and sometimes not clear where the informatio
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Really good except for one nagging issue

Got to the end of entering 1099-R form info and found a box asking for the "State ID" in Box 13, but then next entry asked for "State ID No." ALSO in a Box 13. Problem is that none of our six 1099-R's had a separate Box 13 with just a State ID in it. It took an exasperatingly long time to infer that the "State ID" being asked for was simply the usual Postal Abbreviation (e.g., AL, VA, etc.). Turbo Tax needs to provide a bit of guidance on what's needed for this entry. I can't believe i'm the only user of TT that has encountered this problem. Finally got it filled in and the electronic filing went thru like a wiz.
What's great about it: Very self explanatory and logical
What's not so great: Instruction for "Line 13" on Forms 1099-R not clear

About the time for providing credit card information for filing state return, got the message that the file must be saved. The product hung up and it took some maneuvering to get back to where I could enter the credit card info and finish with e-file.
What's great about it: Good, complete
What's not so great: got hung up at the end

Review of 2015 Turbo Tax Deluxe
on February 22, 2016

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 15 years. I like it because it is easy to use and prompts me for everything I need to enter and checks to ensure things were entered properly. It does not, however, perform the following functions that I need:
-When I import data from prior year, it does not import if I had a prior year Fed or State refund.
-When I import from prior year, it does not import if I had charitable or medical deductions I was not able to claim in prior year.
-It does not allow me to electronically file my one State return for free. I print it out and mail it manually. I think I should be able to file my State return for free, along with my Federal.
What's great about it: I can do my taxes with minimum problems. It prompts me for everything I need to enter.
What's not so great: It does not import data on whether I had a prior year refund or charitable contributions I was unable to deduct
Pros: I bought or sold investments
