I was disappointed that i had to e-file a state return. I could find no way around it to print a copy to snail mail.
What's great about it: User friendly, easy to transfer previous years data
What's not so great: Highlight the new tax laws/requirement for 2015 with a bold line stating new for year 20**
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

you made it hard to get into the tax forms from with the process. in other words if i was in the process of doing my taxes and i needed to go back and change or update info within a schedule it was not easy to find the schedule i needed.
What's great about it: Easy to read and moved along nicely.
What's not so great: some of the questions where vague, if you had not used turbo tax before it could be confusing

i'm a fan of turbotax for easing the agony of filing taxes. this year everything was going well until the very last step where it asked me to print forms that happened to be the state payment voucher even though i paid electronically. i realize it is probably required by state but is very confusing, since the instructions on the printed voucher tell me i don't need to send the form!!
What's great about it: easy & quick to use

I DID IT 4 TIMES BEFORE I NOTICED THE BOTTOM BOX WHICH SAID CLICK TO GO TO NEXT SECTION. ALSO IF YOUR NOT GOOD AT NAVIGATING THE SITE IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE A CUSTOMER SERVICE HELP PHONE NUMBER. YES I KNOW ITS EXPENSIVE.....BUT ITS A COST OF DOING BUSINESS AND SATISFYING YOUR CUSTOMERS ESPECIALY THE GREENHORNS LIKE ME(
What's not so great: STATE TAX SEE REVIEW NO PHONE FOR HELP
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Not sure why this year was different, but it didn't bring up my info from previous TurboTax which presented some issues in how I previously filed and where to look for same tax savings in previous years.
My sister, who is a QuickBooks Pro Advisor also indicated she had noticed similar issue with hers.
Was able to work my way through things, but just made things more difficult to get done this year.
What's great about it: Got my taxes done and submitted
What's not so great: Didn't bring up my info from last tax year as usual which made it more difficult to use and move along as before

The software is very slow for a program of this complexity. From experience as a software engineer, I would guess that this is from overuse of inheritance. Object creation is one of the slowest things you do in a program. Java may be faster, as the use of interfaces provides most of the benefits of inheritance without the overhead of creating multiple objects. Also, it would be nice to have a Linux version and Java would facilitate that. On the program operation front, a middle ground between free exploration of forms and the slow slog would be nice. Perhaps the option to fill out a number of worksheets directly, then going to review would be a solution. For most cases, tax forms are not that complex.
What's great about it: It does the job
What's not so great: It is very slow and gets in the way if you actually know how to do a tax return
