Best thing since canned pineapple

Nearly all of the effort in doing my taxes was spent in getting my records together. I have used TurboTax for years and the beauty of it is that in takes less than an hour to do federal and state taxes. Sure beats the old way of spending days on taxes and reading through tax instruction books.
What's great about it: Easy guidance through all steps in federal and state returns
What's not so great: I had minimal difficulty but any difficulty I did have was due to my own lack of saavy with computer programs

Better Than Last Years

This year's Turbo Tax Deluxe is back to how it should have been after last year's fiasco of requiring the Premier version for simple Sch D and E entries. My only suggestion for improvement is to offer at the beginning of the income entries the option of opting out from downloading the info. I don't like giving any program access to any of my financial web sites no matter how safe they say it is. I always type in my entries. Sure it probably leaves me open to typos but that is my choice. I dislike constantly being asked (at least 3X) if I want to download the info. Let me opt out at the beginning of the section.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Don't like being asked more than once if I want to download info

Quick, easy and thorough!

I'm a repeat user many times over, and find the Turbo Tax program thorough, precise and easy to navigate. Help is just a link away, and additional links are provided when more info is needed. Well constructed and relatively easy to use. The only concern I have is getting hammered for the state e-file. My initial impression at purchase was the "free" state return would include the e-file as well. I think that drives the total cost up enough to where I might have to find another solution next year. I would suggest including the e-file for the one state (if you're going to call it "free"), but charge those that have additional states to process. Overall, I have, and still do, recommend Turbo Tax to others.
What's great about it: Depth: asks questions in laymans' terms instead of Auditor-speak! Help with a question is a quick link away, much more.
What's not so great: Hard to find one! Seems to be a bit lengthy for simple returns, but then the IRS isn't known for brevity either!

I have used Turbo Tax for many years now. I have great confidence in their knowledge of the tax forms and what is expected by the IRS. It is easy to follow their questions and type in the answers. Of course I still have to compile all the figures and information that is needed to answer the questions. Sometimes I have had trouble because a particular situation on last year's form no longer applies to me but their software seems to think it should be the same as before when it is not. I also appreciate the ease of filing my returns with the federal IRS and state tax agency. I would like it if the state filing was free also but it is not. The convenience of e-filing the state form through Turbo Tax so far has been worth the cost.
What's great about it: Easy to follow the questions and very thourough.
