Piece of cake!

TutboTax is just so quick, easy, and accurate that the only con I really have is that my husband used to do our taxes old school via pencil & paper. Now, I do them on the computer which means that it's just one more marital task that falls onto my plate! But, I really don't mind because it is so easy, especially when you do consecutive years and your info hasn't changed. I really appreciate TurboTax's ease of use and accuracy (so far!)
What's great about it: Quick, easy, trustworthy
What's not so great: hubby used to do the taxes!

20 Plus Excellent Years Using Turbo Tax

Overall the product works extremely well! One confusing point. At Federal Review my return had "no errors". Then I continued on and the next message was you have 3 areas to review. I found that quite frustrating. No Errors to me is the return is clean. I would suggest on the first review message to say "there are no errors in you return, however, you have 3 areas for you to review". Also, those areas to review should have been caught during entering the return information. For instance, I had no 1099-DIV for a firm that had one for 2014. Before leaving that income area why not have a question that asks "if you have no information for that particular firm this year please delete". The 3 review items I had were all conditions where I did not have information for 2015, when I did for 2014.
Thanks for asking!
What's great about it: Extemely Easy to Use providing a step by step or your own steps
What's not so great: Confused with the Federal Review

Straight forward

It was a complicated process, not because of TurboTax, but because of the many exemptions and qualifications of federal and State Tax law. TurboTax walked me through those as simply as possible.
What's great about it: Easy to use, given extreme complexity of Federal and State Tax laws
What's not so great: Liked it all.

Used this for 10 years

I have used this product for years. It asks the right questions and helps remind the user of items that might reduce the individuals tax liability. Another facet is the annual comparison at the end of the process. Overall, worth the money for the more advanced features.
What's great about it: Easy and thorough questions. Reminders to check on items that might help control the tax liability.
What's not so great: Confusion on how to handle AMD.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

We are very thankful for Turbo Tax and the ability to understand the tax system as it relates to us. The step by step processes allow for both of us to see the steps that create our tax footprint and discuss it accordingly.
What's great about it: Thank you for making taxes understandable to the common man
What's not so great: The IRS!

T-Tax handling of NM solar tax credit poor
on February 19, 2016

I have used T-tax Deluxe happily for years, selecting the specific items to be covered for my situation - which no longer requires itemizing. Preparing & e-filing the federal return was very easy this year, even with claiming the solar energy tax credit. However, doing the NM state tax return this year with a solar tax credit claim was a pain. T-Tax does not include state form RPD-41317 needed for the claim. Form says one has to send paper copies of supporting docs, so it was unclear if I could e-file. Contacted state to get questions answered and found could e-file through T-Tax & e-mail docs. But T-Tax said I needed to mail supporting docs, but returned an error when trying to generate/print them.
What's great about it: Federal solar tax credit a snap
What's not so great: Problems claiming NM 'Solar Market' tax credit

The questions that go into calculations on the 8606 always confuse me, and I often go back and answer them differently to get the right result.
