I have the same problem every year. I use standard deduction on federal return and itemized on AZ state return. The AZ state return requires that a Fed Schedule A form be included.
It is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get Turbo Tax to print that form if you do not itemize on the Fed Form. Your Q&A section says that Schedule A is "optional". I assure you, IT IS NOT OPTIONAL.
The state refused to process my last return without it.

Pension issues

Turbo Tax 2015

I've been using Turbo Tax since 2010 with my father. So happy I got on their program. Since they save all your information online for year to year it makes your tax process a practically one day affair. Can get them done in an afternoon over coffee if you have all of your receipts and expenses tallied and ready to type in. It truly is a great service and is practically painless. Now if only I didn't live in NJ where the working class owes every year regardless of State Taxes being deducted anyway, then it would be a real joy.
What's great about it: Easy, quick, and a small price to pay for good tax credit.
What's not so great: States taxes for NJ. Enough said.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
