I don't remember the exact year, but sometime in the mid-90's, my friend introduced me to Turbo Tax and I have been using it every year since. I was pleased to once again complete everything in a matter of hours, even though I was able to break it up into a 2 day project of only a couple of hours each day. I feel like Turbo Tax has provided me with a maximum refund every year without having to spend a lot more by hiring an accountant. Thank you for making income tax filing, a dreadful task for most people, something that is relatively simple and rewarding.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good refund, compare year to year returns
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Too Easy

I've used it for years and it is the fastest and easiest program available. Price continues to go up and they don't package with Will Maker or Quicken like they used to do but it's still a fair value.
What's great about it: Fast - Safe - Reliable
What's not so great: Price keeps going up

Easy as Can Be

Have used Turbo Tax the last six years. I have never had a problem. Each following year is so easy as it preloads all of your information. You only have to update changes. Plan on using Turbo Tax as long as it is available.
What's great about it: Does all the thinking for you. Just follow step by step and you're done.

Very Nice Process

I now go thru this process with confidence and a relaxed attitude. It is serious business, but I know there are reviews, and the software is intuitive to ask relevant questions if questionable data entry on my part. I know it is no longer a daunting task. Using It's Deductible makes entering incidentals thruout the year another feature that makes the final process less onerous. I think I'll enter my medical co-pays and Rx amts in here so they're taken care of thruout the year.
What's great about it: Clear, Good helps along the way, opportunities to return and edit are easy;
What's not so great: Honestly, nothing stands out

almost makes filing painless

TurboTax is my go to tax software. For several years, we had our taxes done by others, but after a major mistake a few years ago, I started doing them myself again, and TurboTax makes me confident about doing that.
The format (the program asks you questions, even giving you tips if you're not quite sure about your answers) is easy to use, and checks and re-checks for problems.
The one quibble I have is that if I find I have made an error, it takes a lot of time to correct because you must go back and go through the entire section over again in order to correct it. It seems that this could be made easier somehow.
BUT overall, I would definitely recommend TurboTax. User friendly, helpful, and accurate.

Able to work through difficult questions

I have been using TurboTax for years and love it. I love that the program walks you through each section and helps you know if it applies to you. I also love knowing that the forms are always up to date. I have never used anything else, partly because TurboTax is the most affordable option I have found. On another note, I had trouble filing my return at the last minute one year, due to server issues. TurboTax made sure I was covered with the IRS, so I didn't have to worry about penalties.
What's great about it: Spells it out simply, so you can do it all at home!
What's not so great: It can take a little digging to figure out answers to hard questions
