Came Back

We have been having a CPA do our taxes as there were some different situations to contend with. Now that we are back to doing just a straight 1040A we came back to TurboTax.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Difficult to find how to contact help.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Work on your debugging

From the time I first inserted the disc into the computer to this moment, it has been 1 hour and 17 minutes. In that time, the program has frozen four times. I had to close it with my task manager and reopen it.
Luckily, out of those four lockouts I only had to repeat the e-file information (twice). That being said, I find it quite fascinating that your program can save my bank account information over multiple lockups but can't seem to handle its own Continue button from time to time.

I can't think of any cons about this product. I've been using it for the past 10 years. It is always updated with the latest information about taxes. It is so easy to understand and to follow. If you have any questions along the way, just click and it will be explained. It's been very good for us and I would highly recommend this product to anyone who can use a basic computer. Enjoy !!!

Thorough and correct

This year, for the first time, I knew I wanted to take the standard deduction. There was no place for me to select that as an option without entering such things as mortgage interest and letting Turbotax decide to select that. I had already deliberately clustered deductible expenses, as much as possible, into 2014 and 2016.
What's great about it: I have been using Turbotax for years. It is thorough and correct.
What's not so great: Sometimes you have to go into more detail than necessary.

did not expect a fee to process refund, not advertised as such. also did not like giving social security number on fees.
