Couldn't be any easier!

This is at least my tenth year using TurboTax. I've always found it handles my situation completely. I must admit, my returns are not that complex. I don't run a business. I've had a mortgage. College expenses for my son are coming. Though simple, I like the way TurboTax walks me through the forms. It ensures I look at all the right boxes. With these years of use, my confidence in the product has grown stronger.
The tax guys need to be worried. TurboTax can only get smarter. Unless of course, the tax code becomes more cumbersome and irrational. Then we all need to worry.
What's great about it: Walks me through what's needed. Smart forms.
What's not so great: There wasn't a ka-ching sound whenever my Refund was recalculated.

Almost missed a big deduction

We learned (online) that some states would give a state tax deduction for money put into a 529 savings account for education. Missouri is one such state. We have used TurboTax since 2008 and did not remember being asked about that deduction. When I used TurboTax today, I looked carefully to see if I would be asked about that deduction. I was disappointed to find that I was not asked about that. After going back and searching, I did find where that deduction could be entered, but it was not easy. I did find that I lost an $11,000 deduction last year. At a rate of about 6% that translates to well over $600 that could have been returned to me.
If you check the 'Other Subtractions' box you will find the 529 deduction (even though it is not listed when you click 'See List''.)

You covered all the details!

I keep all my details during the year in a spread sheet. When tax documents start arriving I verify. It's so easy to take those summary details and put them into Turbo Tax, and voila! I'm finished!! and after e-filing, the refund arrives quickly.
What's great about it: Importing last year's info

Taxes Made Simple

Extremely easy to use. Anyone can do it. Love the product.
What's great about it: Not having to duplicate information on state tax forms that was already provided on the fed forms.
What's not so great: Having to pay to efile state tax
