Turbo Confident
on February 12, 2016

I love using turbo tax and have high confidence in the results when I've completed. It makes me feel good that I'm able to complete my taxes on my own with Turbo Tax without the assistance of a paid tax preparer. One thing that could help on Michigan state form is to have the user enter 529 education contributions and withdrawals separately by account to avoid confusion of knowing what net amount to enter when user has more than one 529 account.
What's great about it: The confidence of knowing that it is right. The option to go step by step or choose what I wish to work on.
What's not so great: Computing 529 contribution vs. withdrawal on MI state form

Was very disappointed & did not understand why there is a limit on the number of states you can E-file for. Especially when you are paying for the state's E-files.
What's great about it: quick & simple
What's not so great: Limitations of filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

The best tax program on the market

I have used TurboTax for at least 10 years now, and it just keeps improving. The tool is easy to use for both experienced tax preparers and novices. It lets you choose if you want to complete your return by reviewing every category (perfect for inexperienced preparers) , or choose just those areas you know you need to complete. The ability to import information from the previous year is great time saver, as is the be ability to automatically download and populate various tax forms (such as your W2) from employers and others who offer this service. Finally, the checks and balances built into TurboTax to ensure you are maximizing all the deductions you are entitled to, have not incorrectly entered any data, and have fully and completely provided all necessary information before you submit your returns is absolutely top notch.
I highly recommend TurboTax to any one who asks.
What's great about it: Step-by-step questions, understandable explanations
What's not so great: cost
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Much Better This Year
on February 12, 2016

I enjoyed the easier entry of deductions & income this year including allowing the use of 3/15 for 03/15/2015 instead of having always type out a 8 digit date + slashes.
I am still hoping the program will allow for an alpha list of deductions; I have several.
What's great about it: Better lists & dating
What's not so great: Still cannot list deductions in alpha order
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Makes filing taxes easy

Breezed through federal taxes, but hit a snag on state taxes. Taxable interest on state forms displayed the amount that was tax exempt. Also, some confusion with State income amount. Last year I inserted the tax payer id in that column; didn't realize it until today, a year later.
What's great about it: Does everything for you
What's not so great: Small problem with state, but no big deal
