Easy Effort

I have tried other computer-based tax programs, but am not a great fan of Turbo Tax. Ill be back next year for sure.
What's great about it: I love the walk through flow of the questions
What's not so great: nothing I didn't like
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Federal and CT State

Federal return is easy to prepare and lets you choose which items you want to work on. I particularly like the comparison to prior numbers.
My wife has 2 annuities from which she made withdrawals and received 1099 R forms. She purchased these annuities from inheritances which are neither pensions nor IRA's, yet Turbotax called one an IRA and the other a Pension - which was very confusing and made me go back to see if I entered the data correctly.
The CT State return has an item for "Other Deductions" from Federal AGI. The info button says that Social Security Benefit qualifies as an other deduction - so I entered the Federal taxable portion of Social Security, only to discover on the next page that Turbotax had already entered the Social Security deduction but it wasn't the full Federal taxable amount.
What's great about it: Federal Return is excellent except for 1099 R topics
What's not so great: CT State Return needs some work

Turbotax did make my tax form preparation easier

As a long-time TT user, The 2015 version of Turbotax was as user-friendly as earlier versions. I've always liked the ease of flipping back and forth from Easy Step to Forms mode to see where the data that has been entered ends up in various forms.
What's great about it: TT helped user avoid unnecessary additional tax and penalty
What's not so great: Some competitors'State e-filing price is lower than TT

I actually enjoy doing my tax returns with Turbo Tax. It has taken all the pain and anguish out of the process, and I have confidence that I am submitting an accurate return. I could not be more pleased with this product.
What's great about it: Quick, thorough, accurate
What's not so great: I wish it cost less, but still worth the money

Frustrating

Too difficult to get selected parts of State forms to print....and see cons above.
What's great about it: nice not to have to do calculations myself and for State information to be automatically transferred
What's not so great: not okay have to break down my medical expenses from husbands on State form!

Super Easy!

My return was a long form with 2 houses, 2 property taxes, 3 montage interest statements, several bank accounts, stock dividends, and 403B and I still managed to complete the return from beginning to end in less than an hour. This is excellent! It is also the first year I've been able to import my W2 and bank info even though I've tried it every year and we have worked for the same companies for 11-20 years between us. That was really great. I do think if you actually buy the program and choose to e-file it should not be so expensive.
What's great about it: I was able to import all of my bank and W2 info this year
What's not so great: E-file isn't free even after buying the program.
