The process worked well in addition to the extra form you have to fill out when you are filing for someone who has died.
What's great about it: guided me through the process
What's not so great: Still sometimes addressed me using her name

Best Tax Prep App... and even it has bugs.
on February 8, 2016
Posted by: OldHogRider
Overall, I rate TurboTax very high. I've used it for at least 20 years, and have tried other tax prep apps for comparison, and always prefer TurboTax to the competition. This year (2015) there were a few "bugs" - as seems to be the case most years. They tend to be fairly minor. For example, the language when asking questions about retirement income for a Pennsylvania state income tax return is convoluted and could lead to providing the wrong answer (the question makes it seem that federal civil service retirement income is excluded only if it is disability income, which is definitely not true). Also, when updating a form to correct information previously entered may lead to unexpected behavior... as I experienced on a 1098 Mortgage Interest form (one of the important questions in the guide for the form was skipped when updating the form!).
What's great about it: Comprehensive, good guides, accurate calculations.
What's not so great: Some convoluted language in the guides, particularly in the state returns

Not Military Friendly
on February 8, 2016
Posted by: norwoodboy
If I were not in the military living in one state but having another as a home of residence, TurboTax would be fine.
However, since I live in one state where my wife is a resident, but claim another state as my home of record, I have to file my federal jointly, make a "mock" federal return for my wife and I, then figure out how to file our state return separately.
TurboTax advertises as being military friendly, but I am not pleased with the inability to file easily, especially knowing there are hundreds of military families who have the same situation.
What's great about it: Your info from the previous year is imported automatically
What's not so great: Difficult to file separate state returns for military
Pros: I moved

Congressional loose change

This is a clear, precise and understandable way to do your taxes. A 17 year old high school student or a 50 year old professional with advance degrees can swing thru this program. It does take time to get thru all of the various sections and questions, but no more than going to an accountant or tax service.
What's great about it: This is my 5th year to use Turbo Tax, it gets easier with each passing year. It is clear, precise and understandable.
What's not so great: The program is excellent, but who likes doing their taxes.........

2015 Tax Preparation
on February 8, 2016

Much improved navigation, especially switching back and forth between Forms and Step-by-Step. Seems a lot more straight forward and easier to use for both Fed and State. I've been using TurboTax for many years and 2015 is the best version yet.
What's great about it: 2015 Even better than 2014 TurboTax
What's not so great: None

Printing
on February 8, 2016
Posted by: mtadams
Could not get the return within the program to print.
What's great about it: All but the last, it would not print. I had to go to my document directory and print the file from there.
What's not so great: The part about printing was very confusing.
