Easy, safe, and secure

I have used Turbo Tax for years (unless my tax situation became too complicated and I had my taxes done by a CPA). I like the way it imports your info from year to year and leads you by the hand thru your personal info, deductions and credits.It also transfers the pertinent info to your state forms and makes it breeze. Turbo Tax makes it easy to e-file the federal forms and provides an option for e-filing for state forms. Thumbs up! I highly recommend it and will continue to use it.
What's great about it: Walked thru items, easy to use, easy to e-file
What's not so great: Had to look up a few items or request specific info

TurboTax gives me more anxiety than taxes

Just about the worst only beaten by itself every year.
Darn software showed no data when going back in to edit a started return. Opened up like everything was normal but all the fields were blank..
This has happened multiple times. 4 versions in a row... Just about gave me a nervous breakdown after filing an extension only to have all my previous work go missing. After a few reboots they eventually started to load.
additionally, Fields that require zip code only accepting letter entries.
Not sure if these are just mac issues.

The turbotax program is easy to use and cuts the time to file considerably. The carryover of data from the previous year is a timesaver plus the completion of the state form is a snap compared to filling it out by hand. I have purchased this several years now and am very satisfied.
What's great about it: easy overall to use, interview method helps. I used to do taxes by hand several years ago
What's not so great: some things are not always clear but neither is the tax code

Having worked with much more powerful and detailed income tax software in the past, I was pleasantly surprised at the detail and logical approach to most items. I had difficulty convincing the program that my son who lives in Massachusetts did not need to file a State of Maine income tax return.
What's great about it: For the most part logical sequence and thorough.
What's not so great: Needed to consult assistance to identify process for applying refund to next year.

Problem carrying over data from 2014 return

I have been using Turbotax for many years. Each year's additional features make it more complex and time-consuming to complete my federal return. Unfortuantely, the 2015 software did not recognize my 2014 file, and I had to reenter all data manually.
What's great about it: Comprehensive; reasonalby straightforward to use
What's not so great: Program would not recognize my 2914 Turbotax file.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
