Add explanations to non-obvious questions would be most helpful. I will buy Turbo Tax again next year
What's great about it: Excellent tax software
What's not so great: some questions were not clear.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Satisfaction declining

3/5 Did not like the new format - opted to walk through sections one at a time but still missed things because I had to click "edit" on any (e.g. charitable contributions) items I had on last year's taxes. Found it very annoying and frustrating that TT kept adding a schedule C for something that did NOT need one. Had to go in manually and change it to Line 21 myself. Filed an extension - no option for additional information when I prepared my final return.
What's great about it: Prints out forms
What's not so great: Misc Income reported on wrong line; new format problematic

It just takes time and previious organization to be prepared to start TurboTax. But after using TT so many years, I know the exercise, but it pays off.
What's great about it: That everything was covered.
What's not so great: It is a grind, unfortunately

TT misses some details on Ameriprise files
on October 13, 2016
Posted by: caverpete
i had 3 securities that gave monthly ROA (Return on Assets), but TT automatically classified these as dividends from the imported file from Ameriprise. I had to enter a "workaround" on 36 forms! I would have thought this issue would have been worked out long ago, but it hasn't for the past 2-3 years. This causes concern on my part that it may be missing something else. Hence, only a 2 star rating.
What's great about it: For the most part, it properly loads in my previous information
What's not so great: Does not properly handle Return on Assets

EIN UNK = PITA

Turbo Tax is best of the worst world of taxes calculations for citizens. Although with voluminous duplication of record keeping and re-reporting activities over & over and repeatedly, it becomes annoying enough to want to support simplification of our tax code(s). We ought to be able to make key designations directly on checks, credit card charges and other cumulative data retentions and sorting. What purpose is all our computing power for?
What's great about it: able to relate to prior year figures EXCEPT contributions
What's not so great: TAX CODE is complex & bugs us old folks too!
Pros: I bought or sold investments
