2015 Delayed Tax Filer

I have used Turbo Tax for at least ten years. It is very user friendly, and guides you along fairly easily. The last couple of years though, have been somewhat trying. The software tends to lock up quite often, so I end up re-booting the Turbo Tax. My 2015 software did not fail to live up to it's predecessors problems. I had to re-boot several times, and I finally got to the end, and was ready to E-file, when she locked up completely. I had to reinstall the CD-Rom to make it complete its task. Hope future copies of the software do a better job. Thank-you!!
What's great about it: Easy to use, and user friendly.
What's not so great: Software locks up quite often.

State Filing Schedules

When entering federal interest, dividends, etc. as jointly owned, it does not carry over to the state correctly. It creates 2 schedules (A,B,D) - one for taxpayer and one for spouse and just divides the amounts. When a loss for schedule D, it creates one for taxpayer with a gain, and the spouse as a loss, and you pay taxes on the gain. This is not right, as it should be one schedule D marked as a joint return and as a loss.
What's great about it: walked you thru everything (mostly)
What's not so great: Will not create one schedule A,B,D marked as joint for the state return.

Very thorough product!

We have a fairly straight forward return except I am a contract sales executive so there are business and mileage expenses to track, calculate and enter. That part is a little daunting.
I love using TurboTax and have for many years. Info from prior year transfers automatically so that eliminates a lot of data entry.
Excellent product that gets better every year.

What's great about it: Leads me step by step.
What's not so great: Sometimes you need to research some things that TT doesn't answer.

Big Help !

Had problems with electronic submission, due to IRS delays. Turbo Tax refiled, for free, and saved me hours of waiting on IRS phone calls. Have used for 20+ years - always appreciate this fine program !
What's great about it: Follow Through: Turbo Tax helped me resubmit electronically.
What's not so great: Version 2016 Not Run in Windows XP

Good product but poor future support

Many companies think that they are doing the right thing by dropping support for Windows XP but they are not. My XP system is secure behind a robust firewall with many other protections. It works well and does what I need. Upgrading to a new O/S would not only cost for new hardware and the new O/S but also several thousand dollars to replace the specialty programs I use that will not run on Vista or above. TurboTax should be more concerned about their customers instead of reducing their development costs.
What's great about it: Does a good job of taxes
What's not so great: Will not support XP in 2016
