Foreign Tax Credit, Forms 1116

The ordering of the forms 1116 for general and passive income seems crucial. At the same time, when inserting the foreign taxes into the 1099 forms the passive form is there. I have to delete it manually, do the 1116 general income form first and then go back and do the passive form. In the modern age of programming, Turbo Tax should be able to figure out the right order from the entries. It is archaic and painful to have to manually fix it up (especially these forms, which are painful in the first place). I hope you invest an effort to streamline this procedure.

Better but more costly

I have used Turbo Tax for many, many years. Most years it is a positive task. I do not enjoy the loss of information when going back a few pages though! Even when saved, the information is not displayed while returning to the current display. This year the costs involved in downloading State forms is way to high. Many of the questions & required info may be government required but it's much more difficult than years past. Thanks for a good product that helps me with the tax filing tasks that are required. Scott.

Complex situations needed more work this year

Although I've always valued Turbotax for alerting me to tax situations I might not otherwise be aware of, I had a lot of trouble this year (2015) with the app seeming to skip over certain deductions that I knew I was eligible for (e.g., investment advisor expenses), leaving fields blank after I'd entered values (e.g., for foreign income and associated deductions), and not letting me navigate easily to the forms or worksheets where such information is entered in order to make manual adjustments and corrections. It seems as though in trying to make things simpler for most users, TT has made things much more difficult for the minority in some respects. Also, once I started on state taxes, TT ran very slowly (on a Mac Mini running El Capitan), making me think it had crashed (although it never actually did). AND one more thing--rejecting four possible nicknames on this site, in part because spaces aren't permitted, does not make me want to cooperate in any future online reviews.

Love the Guidance!

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and I think it's great! So much better that hunting down the paper books to file, and then being confused! Will absolutely get it again next year!!
What's great about it: The instructions tell me just what I need to do next!
What's not so great: Cant think of anything.

I live in Germany. The format of the field does not allow to enter an international number.
What's great about it: Good and powerful
What's not so great: For entering a contact phone number one cannot enter a foreign number

Great company and great software!

My identity was stolen. The very nice people at Turbo Tax was a God send in helping me with the procedure to correct this. They even helped me re-install previous year return so I could print it and send it to the state income tax people, again.
