didnt know if i had filed refund

questions asked about certain topics weren't always answered the best way. Had to change to many different links to get answers.
What's great about it: quick and easy
What's not so great: long , takes some time
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Our return was very easy to complete in spite of some complexity. The questions asked by the software were direct and easy to understand. It's great software.
What's great about it: Logical; less irrelevant detail; very focused

Xlnt tax software

The interview and downloading of data is wonderful and works really well on my MacBook. Calculations are easy and done by the computer. When entering an amount, if you need some calculation done, the program will do it for you in the amount block. Printing of forms works well. If you need to go to a form to enter more information, the program easily takes you to tax forms themselves. Importing works well and the program is a real time saver. I used it every year since 1990 or so. Great tax review before submission. Keep it up!
What's great about it: Interview is comprehensive, tax forms easily obtained, import great
What's not so great: sometimes they put too many features and newer computer is needed

As good as any preparer

If you are considering going to a tax professional to complete your tax return, you will have to compile all of your information. You will need your forms and numbers from these various forms. You will pay a lot of money for the person to interview you and take your forms and put the numbers into the computer. How about taking those numbers, answering the exact same questions on Turbo Tax and entering the numbers into the computer? It is fool proof and checks for errors constantly. It walks you through the return step by step. All of this is a fraction of the cost of professional tax preparation. Furthermore, for a small additional fee, you can add audit defense to minimize the discomfort of an audit. I have been using this for 8 years and highly recommend it.
What's great about it: Easy to understand interview
What's not so great: no stale coffee

Been using turbo tax for 17 year. have tried others but they were to hard. Easy instructions and they explain everything you need to know.
What's great about it: great program, never had IRA come back on me
