Not my favorite

I feel like this software is hard for someone who knows what they are doing. It is very frustrating to not get to see the actual form until you print almost!!
What's not so great: hARD TO SEE IF YOU ARE DOING IT RIGHT. WILL NOT SHOW ACTUAL TAX FORM
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax got it wrong

Ended up having to pay additional tax, and small penalty / interest. They offer to pay that if they got it wrong, but the process looks hellish for the very small payback. It would be a ridiculous waste of my time to apply for that- I'm sure many don't apply for that very reason.
What's great about it: Nice interface, Seemed to get everything correct
What's not so great: The IRS said the submission was incorrect
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

It works, that is all that it needs to do. I have used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years.
What's great about it: gets 'er done smoothly without fuss or muss
What's not so great: just that ya gotta do it in the first place

Progressively disappointed

I have been a user of Turbo Tax for almost two decades. Lately it is becoming useless in terms of supplying clear information in tax preparation.
What's great about it: It does its job
What's not so great: Information supplied for filling out return and answers supplied to questions are getting more ambiguous less helpful

I like TurboTax because it's so easy to text different scenarios, like changing IRA and HSA contributions--you can try different amounts without doing a lot of calculations.
With so many states offering free online tax return filing, I don't understand why TurboTax charges so much to submit a state filing.
This year's Turbotax is a bit confusing with file naming--it seems to save a couple of tax returns and I don't understand why it does this--it's not a backup system.
What's great about it: Easy to make changes, test scenarios
What's not so great: State filing too expensive
Pros: I bought or sold investments

As tax prep software goes, using TurboTax 2015 Deluxe was pretty good.
What's great about it: It filed my taxes.
What's not so great: It did not take too much time
