Not Enough Year-to-Year Comparison
on May 9, 2016
Posted by: BronxMother
I'm an experienced TT user. This year, because of Windows problems, I was initially unable to load TT. When I finally got it installed, I had trouble comparing 2014 numbers with 2015.
What's great about it: Continuity - so much I don't have to re-enter
What's not so great: Technical problems

Best program out there.
What's great about it: Easy to follow. Good links.
What's not so great: Should be able to open worksheet from form line. Hard to find State direct deposit entry.

IRS rejected the original 104 because of incorrect calculations on 1095A. I re- did the form and submitted, but IRS claims to only have the original 1040 submitted and the corrected 1040 but the itemized deductions on Schedule A did not get received by them. The IRS directed me to now do an amended form- a 1040X. Now Turbo Tax cannot easily do an amended form on the submitted corrected 1040 form that was sent in.
What's not so great: messed up my 1095A
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used turbo tax for for more than 15 years but the program seems to be getting more complicated in the past couple of years. this was the first year I had a dependent in college and I couldnt find most answers in turbo tax. I had to do most of my research online and with the IRS web sites. I do still like the program but fell its become a lot more work.
What's great about it: found most information needed and most items strait forward
What's not so great: couldn't find most questions I had on education deductions and I had to do a lot of my own researching

Canadian not always easy
on May 11, 2016

It would be very nice to make it easier for those living in Canada. There could be a simple added category. Remember, there were millions of us. It is very hard to know what to say in many of the categories. It would also be excellent to have an RRSP and FBAR reporting section for us. Not hard for you to do but a huge help for us. Otherwise it is hard to know if we up to date.
What's great about it: Easy to fill out. Nice big print.
What's not so great: Very difficult for US citizens living in Canada.

Super easy to do both tax returns. Did Federal in April & filed online. Did State in May & filed online. Both very easy to do!
What's great about it: Great finds on helping get State tax refund
What's not so great: Came close on Federal but still a short way to go.
