ALWAYS A GREAT EXPERIENCE

I HAVE BEEN USING TURBO TAX SINCE 1997 - NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES - AND MY TAXES ARE NOT SIMPLE...STOP WASTING MONEY WITH THOSE OTHER TAX SERVICES!!!

Forget the cigar

1. Had a new tax situation this year and step by step did get me through it. But I should have read the IRS Publications first, had to do some back-tracking.
2. I imported data from on-line, last year TurboTax, and Quicken. It got everything but I did have some concern about duplication - no duplication, but had to clean up stuff imported from last year that didn't recur this year, some on-line data that didn't apply, and some Quicken data that was mis-categorized.
Bottom line: Don't leave unused stuff in TurboTax and clean up your Quicken data before you import it - particularly uncategorized or where it is using memorized data that changes over time.
3. When using TurboTax it is not always clear where the information is going and what is going to be done with it. If you are unsure of the answer, it isn't particularly easy to get to the forms and publications to understand how you should answer.
4. There are a number of things that TurboTax won't let you edit. That is probably good for the most part but in some cases it is ridiculous. The nickname on this evaluation is from the of the first form filed this year. This evaluation is a compilation of 3 filings this year. It is not my nickname and it is not changeable.
5. It would be nice if Turbo Tax would remind you if something was a-miss. Everything was completed and ready to e-file. It was late a night and I forgot to push the transmit button. So my filing just sat in my computer. It would have been nice if the program would have restarted and asked me if I wanted to finish. LOL

What's great about it: Step by step is great. Makes sure I don't miss anything
What's not so great: Jumping to rules or impact is difficult for us who are too old or young and haven't read the IRS Pubs recently

Concise and efficient

Please note I have very little assets, and was inputting 1099-MISC forms. It was painless and fast, and very easy to use.
What's great about it: Everything. It was too easy to complain about anything.
What's not so great: Nothing.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great Product

I used Turbo Tax for the first time because I needed to file both 2014 and 2015 Taxes. I wanted to save money on my tax prep and feel confident about my returns.
Using Turbo Tax has taught me so much. I have a better understanding of what expenses I should track during the year for the biggest deductions. i will definitely use Turbo Tax again.

TurboTax 2015 Review

For the 2nd year in a row, e-filed our taxes after initial 4/18/16 due date due to awaiting K-1 for our business. Thanks to TurboTax for keeping all my records current until I could file. Plus I used the Help feature a few times (1095B vs 1095C forms, entering K-1 (and state K-1-P) info). Found this info easy to navigate and overall very helpful.
What's great about it: Easy to enter all my info; help was a real help
What's not so great: several minutes, every time, for the program to open. Understand the program must update, but come on!

Why Additional Edit Checks During Transmission

One thing that drives me crazy is that TurboTax decides after you have paid for electronic transmission and are trying to transmit -- they suddenly have more edit checking they want to do??!! Why can't all the edit checks be done during the "FINAL REVIEW" ??
Every year the software finds additional questions to ask during transmission. One year I could never answer the question correctly/get out of the edit check loop and ended up printing and mailing my return when I had already paid to send it electronically.
I HATE...HATE... and do not understand this practice.
