1099 Issues
on April 25, 2016

My wife had a 1099 and while Turbo Tax let me enter the information as income it became confusing later in the process. It listed the husband of the owner of the business on the Schedule C form. Neither the husband nor the wife was the owners. It made a $300 difference depending on whom was selected as the owner which was forced. There was no option to select otherwise.
What's great about it: Overall ok
What's not so great: Some Problems with 1099

I have used Turbo Tax since 2009, NEVER EVER AGAIN!! In our year of retirement your program had a "clitch" in it that checked & deducted all insurance from the ACA plan credit, causing an audit to us !
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: checks boxes that get you auditted that are wrong !!

Easy to use

Had a great experience even with being a person who lives out of the country. My only complaint is that in order to file the return you are forced to enter a telephone number. My home and mobile phone have numbers not compatible with your phone number field. It would be nice if you added a second field that was not restricted to the US format.
What's great about it: very intuitive
What's not so great: support for non-US telephone numbers

Been using Turbo Tax for years. It is reliable, and so helpful. I no longer have to read and figure out what has changed or not changed. It does all calculations for me. Asks all the right questions to make sure I have covered all situations. Transfers pertinent information from one year to the next. Perfect program
What's great about it: I don't have to keep up with tax laws

Leasing of mineral rights is treated the same as leasing of a house, when, in fact, it is quite different. There is no street address for a mineral lease. It can be identified by a survey name or a section number. A mineral rights owner typically owns a small percentage of the acreage that needs to be leased for a well. Multiple leases can be held for what appears to be the same property. A lease that is held by production extends down only to the producing formation. The owner of the mineral rights is free to lease his property that is below that producing formation.
What's great about it: imports data from previous year. Steps through return
What's not so great: Does not know how to handle oil and gas income from lease bonuses.
