Quick and Easy

Been using Turbotax for over 10 years now and it is by far the better way to file taxes. Software is seamless, simple, and straight forward. Thanks again!
What's great about it: Step by step guide, preloading and e-file
What's not so great: Program crashed a few times, had to redo some work. It won't recommend strategies for maximum return.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Painful experience

I have been a Turbo Tax user from the very beginning. And today's version is so much more complex with unnecessary information that is more confusing than helpful.
What's great about it: Mathematical accuracy
What's not so great: Confusing information

This is the last time I will use this program, left me frustrated, failed to pick up my Social Security income, then when I went in to correct it I wound up paying the firs payment for the incorrect form then the whole amt for the correct form, paying $819 to much. I could not retrieve my taxes from last year using your program, then was charged to file both fed forms and state forms so will be better off going to a tax man.
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: cumbersome, confusing,

Good but some niggling issues
on April 19, 2016

I've been using TurboTax for years but this year the version I chose seems to have lost some "support" for some capabilities. This is my first year to recieve a 1099MISC, early on in the income entry process it indicated that details regarding 1099MISC (expenses, deductions, etc) would be addressed later. It turn out that this 1099MISC is not automatically supported by the version I purchased and I needed to upgrade. They should have made this clear early in the process instead of misleading me. Turns out that I was able to do what was needed by manually editing the appropriate schedules and forms.
Also, I had to re-enter information for charitable donations several times - during the original entry and again during the review of the final forms.

The "fix" issues process is "heavy weight". why can't I address all the issues (especially when several "fixes" are needed for the same element)? why do I have to rerun the check portion and do fixes line by line for the same deduction.
product capability was clearer with the 2014 packaging - go back to the old way please.
Cheers....
What's great about it: import from last year, updates quickly, runs on MAC
What's not so great: does not support 1099MISC (seamlessly), charitable deduction details "get lost", doesn't run on Linux
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Disappointed-Mac users BEWARE!!!
on April 19, 2016

This year's Turbo tax was a big disappointment. Although easy to understand the problem was that it would not let me download last year's tax info on my Mac no matter what I tried. I asked for help and even looked at the blogs which suggested to remove the encryption from last year's turbo tax which I did. I downloaded it and turbo tax 2015 said it received the information but as I did my taxes it was obvious it did not download last year's info. It took me much longer to do my taxes than it should have. "Turbo" it was not. Mac users BEWARE and consider another program if turbo tax doesn't fix this immediately.
What's great about it: Walks you through the process and easy to understand
What's not so great: Not able to download last year's turbo tax info on my Mac no matter what I tried

Your usual excellence

My wife and I both work on our taxes, usually at different times and we work on them in sections. So being able to do that seamlessly is a huge perk for us. T-tax is great at making that easy for us to do. We will continue to use it for those very same reasons.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Easy to go back at a later date to continue or review.
What's not so great: None really

Good product with challenges

Usually TurboTax has been a stellar product over the years for me, but there was a bug that blocked payment for Audit Defense, which caused me to be late mailing my state tax return. Also, product is pricey when adding additional states, efiles and audit defense.
What's great about it: Reuse data year to year
What's not so great: Bugs paying for audit defense, expensive

I've been using Turbo Tax to file my own and family's taxes almost since it first came out. 2015 was the easiest yet!
What's great about it: extremely easy to use
What's not so great: failed my efile
