It is so easy

In the VA State return, the Retirement Income Adjustment was very difficult. I spent a lot of time doing my own research in IRS Pub 721. I'm still not sure I did it correctly.
What's great about it: I'm still in habit of using navigator button. Half way into the return remembered to use Tools tab.
What's not so great: Retrieving info from previous year. Transferring relevant date to state return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Put forms view back online

I did my return online but wanted to validate by seeing forms. Also, I couldn't find a place to enter one of the tax forms I received. When I tried to search for the form entry online, i couldn't find it. I called and was told you removed the ability to view forms from online and i had to get the desktop version instead. This now has my tax history disjointed as the past 10+ years are online but this year is saved to my desktop only.

Fast & Helpful, but Buggy

TurboTax is a very good tax prep app that I've used for several years. It's great at transferring my tax data from last year's returns, and applying the federal info to the state return.
Each year, however, various software bugs pop up that can be frustrating. Example: My edited 1099-MISC entries for TY2015 would not update in the Step-By-Step summary screen, forcing me to double-cross-check to make sure the info was correct on the actual IRS forms and worksheets (it was OK). Also, I had to manually fix a few duplicate entries on forms. And a few obsolete forms were retained from earlier years despite having no data.
But there's much to like about TurboTax and it's still my go-to tax prep software. It's very easy to file an extension, if needed, and eFiling of federal & state returns together is amazingly fast. For the non-CPAs among us, it does provide confidence and peace-of-mind that the returns are complete and correct. The final review scans are good a picking up small but important errors, for example. And the form-specific Help screens are comprehensive and easy to understand.
Final word of advice. I purchased the Deluxe version because it had exactly the features I needed. So it is really annoying to be stopped, especially close to the filing deadline, by marketing screens pitching add-on products or services. If you must "up-sell" your products, please do not make the ads part of the workflow. Doing my taxes is stressful enough without fending off promos!
At the end of the day (or night) TurboTax is a fine product. I will keep using it as long as it continues to be easy to navigate and highly accurate.
