I buy Turbo Tax Deluxe every year to help make it so quick and easy for me.
What's great about it: the question review method is so easy
What's not so great: for my state return it does not pick up that my state teacher retirement payment is not taxable in Alabama

Reliable program

Very good basic tax filing system (delux). Overall very few problems and easy to use.
What's great about it: Intervew process works smoothly.
What's not so great: Sometimes I could not get to the forms themselves.

It's super easy

I hate doing my taxes but TurboTax makes it easier. I LOVE that it imports the information from the previous year. I also have a lot of charitable deductions and the "It's deductible" feature helps to itemize those donations.
What's great about it: I like that it takes you step by step
What's not so great: It should give me a checklist of forms I'll need for next year based on this year's return.

Very Convenient and simple but losing transparency

I have used TurboTax for over 7 years and have been extremely satisfied. The product is solid, simple, and intuitive. As long as I type correctly, the product does exactly what is advertised. My wife QAs my fat fingers and all is copacetic by submission time. Entry is easy and straightforward. I, fortunately and unfortunately, have to file in mutilple states. One of my states listed a surprising AGI and the product did not allow me to enter the non-resident's State's Income but pre-calculated it somehow. It was difficult to find (read: back into) this formula and there was no way to change the automated calculation which I am ultimately still questioning. I would like to see and be able to touch each of these calculations as I have done in years past. I'm sure the calculation is accurate as TurboTax always is, but my name is on the bottom of the return. I want to make sure I pay everything that is due, but no more than is accurate.The motto: trust but verify. Due to this change in entry and lack of correction, validation is a bit harder this year than in the past and requires too much faith it is correct.
ItsDeductibe is the MacDaddy! I would never be able to calculate fair market value on these items without this support. Worth the time to use it and I feel safer using these estimations standardized by a Nation Organization.
Oh - in retrospect - what's the deal with an extra State costing almost the same as the initial Deluxe product (Federal and one State)? If I have a beef - there it is. For that rate, and with the hidden Non-resident calculations, simply doing the math longhand is becoming a bit more appealing. With that jolt mid-file, the total cost of acquisition and e-filing is equal to my personal accountant's expense to do my taxes.
What's great about it: Quick and Easy way to perform standard tax returns. ItsDeductibe is the MacDaddy!
What's not so great: Transparency on Non-Resident State Taxes is more muddy this year than in the past

The best, forget the rest!

I have used Turbo Tax for years. I tried another brand of tax software many years ago & never used it again. TT just can't be beat. I tell all my friends they should use it. Save money & ensure a correct tax filing. Don't pay a tax " professional" who will not use all of your deductions if there is a "gray area". Turbo Tax has never triggered an audit & never will.
What's great about it: Quick & Easy
What's not so great: None

Another year with Turbo

A little more cumbersome this year with daughter starting college and new healthcare plans, but I think TurboTax had all the answers for me.

What's not so great: sometimes lose my place
