Good and Bad!

After the review I checked off that I did not want audit defense. Then the last step before filing is submitted audit defense came up again and there was no opt out choice. I either had to call your support line on tax day, having to wait a very long time, or purchase it so I could finish filing. I hope next year, any time audit defense is presented there are two options: Yes interested, No thanks.
What's great about it: I love this program. I used it for years. It saves me money and worry.
What's not so great: I was forced to purchase audit defense to finish the filing process

We've been using TurboTax for years and continue to do so. Now our kids use it for theirs. The price is reasonable and certainly a lot less than a tax preparer. We use the Deluxe and it is more than adequate for our needs. I wish they didn't have to go over all of the obscure things but those are the IRS requirements so not much you can do about that. We recommend this software to those with easy returns (the simple version) or more involved returns (itemizing, income properties, etc.) with the Deluxe or Premier. Also, good customer support.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good price
What's not so great: no real negatives

I've used TurboTax since 2009. It's great and I like it very much. However, this year I had a very painful incident - I was 90% done with my federal return and forgot to click "File" then "Save." My MacBook Pro laptop crashed and I lost everything - had to start all over again from scratch - ugh!
It would be very helpful and greatly appreciated if TurboTax would add a periodic reminder pop-up on the tax return screen to "Please save your work now" to avert this calamity.
Thanks.

Fastest tax prep tool there is

I had tried the on line version first and it didn't pull data from last year so it took a long time to enter and I missed some items (carry over losses). When I bought the full version it was a snap to finish in a fraction of the time I'd spent before - AND found where I'd missed something and reduced my tax burden.
What's great about it: It pulls data from prior years for faster input and fewer issues.
What's not so great: i tried the on-line version first and it couldn't import data from last year. Added time and cost by not knowing this.

Knocked It Out!

As a teacher, I can see a variety of skilled and unskilled users being able to follow the program and get their taxes completed. I had no real Cons but I can think of only one suggestion (if it's possible)...display the form one would be normally filling out at the side of the screen. Thanks for your help Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: The format of the program is easy to follow.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Crashes on Windows 10
on April 18, 2016

I have been using Turbotax for about 20 years, and have always liked its detailed information and guidance. Turbotax 2015 in general is the same old, good Turbotax. However, I am very disappointed that the DVD deluxe version I purchased keeps crashing and quitting on Windows 10. Everytime I opened it, I was allowed to use for only about two minutes before it crashed again. The worst thing is that with so many people complaining about the same thing for a long time, there was never ever an update that could resolve this issue. Eventually I gave up finding cures, and in the beginning, I managed to save immediately after making some new progress. When I opened it again after it crashed, I was back to where I saved. Doing so was a nuisance, but at least it worked, well, until I was about to e-file. At the stage of e-filing, no matter where I was and whether I had saved, when I opened again after it crashed, I was back to the first page of e-filing, and there were still many pages and information to type before Turbotax could start e-filing. After trying like ten times, and actually with every repeat, I was getting faster in clicking to move on, I still could not finish e-filing before Turbotax crashed. Finally I had to find an old Windows 7 computer to run Turbotax, so it could last long enough for me to e-file. I have to say that this is the worst experience I have had with Turbotax.
What's great about it: Step-by-step guide
What's not so great: Keeps crashing on Windows 10
