Other than completely abolishing the IRS Turbo Tax is the best, most cost effective way to file. My whole family files with Turbo Tax. Tax prep is simple, efficient and relatively painless with filing and refunds extremely fast.
I remember the days of my dad and mom sitting down with mountains of paperwork to file their taxes and the consternation they went through. Then driving late at night to the post office to ensure they filed on time. After that they waited months for the tax refund check to come via snail mail.
Thanks for making such a great product and continuing to improve it every year. And thanks for taking our privacy and security so seriously. We have never had a problem with identity theft because of TurboTax.
I recommend TurboTax to anyone.
What's great about it: Better and Faster Than Ever

Can't get any easier

The step-by-step technique makes it very easy to enter information with multiple and complex income and deduction information. The help library with search capabilities made it easy to find answers to my questions about working dependents this year.
What's great about it: Makes completing a complex tax return about as easy as it can be.
What's not so great: Was not able to e-file for the second year in a row due to identity theft.

Need to Lock in All Answers

We have used Turbo Tax for as long as I can remember, and we have no reason to switch. My only complaint has to do with going back through sections already competed. First, I wish the "back" and "continue" buttons were in the same place on each page so I don't have to move the cursor up or down. More importantly, I don't want to answer the same questions more than once. Sometimes, going back through a section, I might not remember how I answered a question the first time and if my choice is not shown I have to rethink that question. Please keep original answers and choices highlighted in some manner so unnecessary decisions don't need to be made.
What's great about it: Very smart and intuitive program. Makes decisions based on entries. Answers questions.
What's not so great: Difficult to go back through sections.
Pros: I bought or sold investments, I moved

you guys finally got it right for clergy. my situation of parsonage allowance along with fair rental value in the past made for errors which did not allow me to file electronically. these last couple of years have been wonderful. thank you.

Year over Year Carryover

Even thought the app brings the data from last years return to the current year, it is still trial and error as you go through step by step process for filling in the current year's tax information.
For those that have returns that don't change much year over year, this is annoying and sometimes takes a number of "Back" clicks to answer the questions the same way that you did last year.

program is too large for my old computer

My computer is old, not much memory compared to most, but this is the first year the software really slowed things down.This is a big program. I wish I could have figured out how to turn off some processes that I wasn't going to use (maybe ready access to on-line community) that would have let me go faster.
I found it difficult to split home office expenses between one used for a business and one used as an employee getting a w2 - lots of back and forth which was difficult because I was also having software problems. These calculations kept making it freeze.
