I purchased the federal return with one state return free.
What's great about it: It takes you from one section at a time and it is easy to get answers as you go through the program.
What's not so great: When I got ready to file for the state return I was asked for a 24.99 fee to file.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Nice -- One Error Though....
on April 18, 2016

As usual, nice software -- easy to use, step by step, great additional information support. One problem I found was that I had both "Income in Two States" and "Income Earned in a Foreign Country." The program added these two together and treated the sum as "Income earned in the state in which I was not a resident" instead of just the income I actually earned in the state in which I was not a resident. That meant a big tax liability in my non-residence state -- I had to manually correct this. Also, some of the "Income Earned in a Foreign Country" stuff could be much much more clear -- e.g., the carry-over of Foreign Taxes paid to that foreign country. This is out of sync with the clarity and ease of the rest of the program.
Finally: Unless you cut the capacity of TT Deluxe again next year (as you did a year or two ago) I plan on using TT again next year. Great product.
What's great about it: Very Easy, Step-by-Step
What's not so great: Handling Foreign Income

2015 Taxes
on April 18, 2016

My 1099C for oil royalties was not fully explained. Several tax boxes needed information not shown on the 1099C that I was issued. Still all in all a good product. I will use it again.
What's great about it: Simple to use. Imports prior tax year data.
What's not so great: Some things not explained fully. Only 2 of my 3 prior W-2 forms were automatically imported.

Gets better each year

I have no real "cons." Areas for continued improvement would include some way to auto-fill W2 information. I'm impressed with your continued improvement of the software to allow you to go back and check something, then return to where you were without having to step through again and re-enter information. This is very helpful, for example, when I had already entered payment information for Audit Defense, then had to go back and find where to apply some of my refund to 2016 estimated taxes, then return to where I was. I didn't have to re-enter the payment information, which assured me that I wasn't going to be charged twice. Thanks for a great product and for continuing to work with the taxing authorities to make it very smooth and reliable. It inspires peace of mind, which is very important in tax situations.
What's great about it: Very fast and seamless between Forms and Easy Steps

Form 1098-T
on April 18, 2016

I originally could not file my return due to an incorrect zip code response on form 1098-T. I think the addition of something similar to a call-out box to emphasize the required ZIP refers to the filers zip code and not the ZIP of the institution providing the 1098-T would be helpful.

Had to do certain portions of my return on a Windows machine because I could not easily scroll down using my Mac. Please correct this! It needs to be seamless for both Mac and Windows machines!
What's great about it: Clear instructions, very thorough
What's not so great: Could not scroll down with Mac
