Great product

Really like this product, everything is covered even small business forms with the deluxe edition. Sometimes it does miss asking a question when you had an entry the year before and not this current tax year.
What's great about it: Takes you through all of the steps, one at a time
What's not so great: Sometimes it does not ask you to review something when you entered a value last year and not this year

What the heck

If all my previous years taxes were done with TurboTax & were on the flashdrive, why did I have to research what was needed and input the information? It took hours and did not help my return at all. I am not very happy and felt TurboTax was not worth my money or time this year. Maybe it is time to switch tax preparation companies.
What's not so great: asked for information on a previous year form 8801 all previous year taxes were done with TurboTax it took hours.

Used to be better

I have the same accounts every year (for the most part). Turbo Tax used to upload the account shell info(plus it helps you not miss anything).
Didn't work this time.
What's great about it: Better than by hand
What's not so great: Doesn't load previous years 1099's etc
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

This was year 10, each year it gets BETTER!!!

I have used Turbo Tax for 10 years and each year it has become more user friendly and comprehensive. This year my 17 year old used it for the first time and she commented "Mom why do you always complain about doing the taxes, I had no problems." I have to agree that it is not Turbo Tax that I am complaining about, it is just the subject of taxes. I have recommended this program to many people and I haven't heard a negative comment yet. If only other tax programs were this easy to use.
What's great about it: It walks you through every entry, and provides help when needed.
What's not so great: The option to save the file after each section is not offered automatically.

Glitchy, problems not addressed in a timely manner

After the horrors of the 2014 tax version (forcing all Schedule C filers to buy a more expensive version, etc.), I would have hoped that TTax would have been totally pristine. Very disappointed. The 1099-misc form seemed to have 2 glitches:
1) An infinite loop where the software kept asking the user to enter another 1099-misc; the only way out of this for me was to just jump to another form
2) The income summary showed 0's for 1099 income (though it did seem to calculate the tax correctly -- whew!)
It wasn't so much the glitches, I know they happen, but the failure of TTax to address them, and that they seemed to think that referring the issue to 'the community' was a solution. 'The community' is great, but can't fix software defects. The whole situation was, in my opinion, unacceptable. Looking at other reviews and the 'community' pages, it looked as if there were multiple hiccups with this year's TurboTax. After using it for so many years, it's kind of painful to make a change, but next year -- enough is enough!
What's great about it: Continuity (more or less); most elements worked fine
What's not so great: Glitch in 1099-Misc entry

Price too high

This year I used both Deluxe and assisted my children with free addition. The additional costs to upgrade for minor topics and the cost to e-file states are way too high. If you had been a little less greedy I would have used the service rather than printing and mailing my returns.
What's great about it: Good package
What's not so great: Add on costs are too high
