Been on TurboTax over a decade. Handles my wife's home based hair salon with confidence. Was using Quicken prior to than and handing it to a CPA and felt like I had already done the work for him as he plugged it into his software.
What's great about it: Easy to use for the new user and the experienced. It will hold your hand or let you skip to what you need.
What's not so great: Didn't pull a few 2014 expenses forward for comparison. Got them by opening the 2014 return though. Minor issue.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

mostly good, but slow to start & some poor design
on April 17, 2016

The following things really need to be cleaned up:
1. The program is ridiculously slow to start. 2. The windows to add supporting details and view help are not re-sizeable, which makes them unnecessarily difficult to use. 3. The program accounts for jury duty pay given to the employer for the federal return, and then forgets about it for the state return, necessitating a manual correction. 4. The screens where charitable contributions are entered are very poorly designed: a. The list of contributions won't stay sorted, necessitating extra clicking after every entry or edit. b. The list of contributions doesn't maintain its scroll position, necessitating extra scrolling after ever entry or edit. c. The names of existing charities can't be edited, necessitating deletion and re-entry of the charity, and all contributions to it, just to correct the spelling of the name. d. The button to add a charity is only at the bottom of the list, necessitating extra scrolling when working with a large number of charities. e. The focus in the add money window should start on the amount field, which is the only one used most of the time, to avoid unnecessary mouse or keyboard actions to move the focus each time.
What's great about it: thorough
What's not so great: slow launch; charitable deduction entry is poorly designed; jury pay given to employer not accounted for in state return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy to get through
on April 17, 2016

Been using this program for about 10 yrs. It usually takes me 20 min to get started, 1-2 hrs to to get through and about 1-2 hrs for review/adjustments.. I'd like for it to describe to you things that have changed. I like the way it compares previous year filing, if you have it load that. Don't know why anyone would pay same one to do this.
What's great about it: Easy to load and get thru
What's not so great: Sometimes doesn't give you sufficient information

Can be frustrating

If you click on a wrong box and don't really need that form, it is almost impossible to delete the form or to start over. if you click on the SD 100AE (I think that's the right number) and you don't pay tax to a school system, Turbo Tax will not easily let you back up and fix it. It took me 15 mins to delete the form and go on. It kept saying that I was deleting the form, but when it went over my return, that form was there and needed a number, which I naturally didn't have.
What's great about it: Works well as long as you dont make a mistake
What's not so great: If you make a mistake and click the wrong form, it is not easy to correct.
