2015 tax prep

I have used TurboTax Deluxe for the past 6 or 7 years. It continues to be easy to use and accurate. For example, just as an experiment, I had a regular tax service complete my 2014 taxes after I had done them on TurboTax. The regular tax service did not find any other deductions. My refunds were the same. I trust TurboTax!

Way to go

All in all a good experience. Some of how it works is a mystery to me, especially Schedule E depreciation. Never seems to agree with what accountant sends. Possibly because we are using a non-standard depreciation on rental property.
What's great about it: easy to use but best to import last years taxes.
What's not so great: Found info on RMD's for IRA and qualified plans to be unclear

We so much appreciate being guided through the forms, having the calculations made for us, and being reviewed and double-checked at the end. Still not fun to file taxes, but a much nicer experience than it could be.

Turbo Tax user for 5 years

The flow of the software is logical, and linking back to last year's return is reassuring that you have gotten everything entered. E filing is quick and painless. I did my own returns for more than 30 years, using paper forms. This approach took only 3 hours, rather than 2 days or more using the old way.
What's great about it: changes from year to year are logical, updates offered during the tax season to use the most recent forms
What's not so great: nothing that would drive me to another tax software

Very dissatisfied

I followed the instructions for 2014 and TurboTax had me pay taxes to both Indiana and Michigan. Through work, a year later, I found out this was incorrect and that TurboTax should have directed me to fill in my Michigan income as $0. This error on the part of TurboTax caused me to send Michigan a check for $3,451. I filed an amended tax form this year to try to get that money back. So far, I have heard nothing.
What's great about it: Got through most of it OK
What's not so great: Failed to account for living in IN and working in MI

TurboTax is a Tax Tourniqet

TurboTax gets better every year, making tax preparation a little easier. Now, if the taxing authorities would adopt their philosophy April 15th would be no worse than April14th or 16th.
My one issue this year had to do with a Mass. tax credit for septic system replacement. I had a carryover which didn't carry for this year. No big deal, but you still have to pay attention even when the software helps overall.
What's great about it: Keeps the pain from spreading into your whole schedule
What's not so great: Some Mass. specific issues didn't roll in from last year
