Turbo Tax teaches you the in's and outs of filing your taxes at your pace on your time. I wouldn't do my taxes any other way.

A Very Generous Average

I found it very confusing and frustrating to get into. I was not able to transfer 2014 to 2015 initially. When I went back the next day to work on it. It seemed that I had to start over because there wasn't a way to get past the greyed out screen. I finally restarted Turbo Tax, Entered all the info again and was able to transfer 2014 to 2015. I then realized that I could click on the bottom of the screen to get back to where I had left off without restarting Turbo Tax again.
This whole process cost me hours.

Easy to use for the average tax return

I have used Turbo Tax for over 12 years and I'm getting more and more unhappy with it. It gets more expensive and it continuously tries to up sell you. As it cannot cover every situation in the step by step guide, it will allow you to go to the actual tax form, which is great, because you can see what the IRS is actually asking for and you can figure it out. The downside is that it won't get you back where you were in the step by step when you had to go to the forms.
What's great about it: Importing data from previous year. Ability to switch to IRS Forms
What's not so great: I hate that I can't open old tax returns without the original software. Expensive to buy and e-file State Returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Really easy to complete tax forms. Program walks you through every step, just have your information ready to fill in.

TTx Deluxe - Import W2

Cannot import daughter's W2 again this year. She is familiar with the W2Express website and only thing she found was a comment about the "PIN" was discontinued some time ago! Don't know if that's the problem. So we entered the W2 manually again this year!

2. This is minor - This Colorado instruction for says filing deadline is March 1. Should be April 18 for 2016. You need better proofreading.

Another Easy Tax Filing

I find that most tax items are covered by the step by step method and the program is intuitive. However I had to switch to Forms method to complete the estimated tax calculations. When I was ready to file, the program said that having not tax due and no refund was unusual. Actually, I used my over payment for next year's estimated tax installments. The program should have acknowledged this, not say that my situation was unusual. I had to double-check that my estimated taxes were being calculated.
What's great about it: Mostly everything is automated and intuitive
What's not so great: Sometime had to work around not getting to the screen I need
