I've used Turbotax for several years with no issues. This year we filed married filing jointly, but I moved from MD to NY midyear, and spouse stayed in MD until the end of year. When I looked up forms on MD website, there should have been an option to distinguish between when I was a MD resident and when my spouse was, but TurboTax automatically entered our residency as being the same on the state forms when we had distinguished between our different residencies in the personal info part of the software. There was also no option in the software to file jointly for federal and separate for state, which may have been a better option since my spouse was not a resident of NY during 2015. For the NY taxes, it was very unclear how I should enter the income allotments and whether I was being taxed twice or not. The questions asked in the software are not specific enough to know how to answer. The forms from the state seem more straightforward than the software. Also, the software required me to go back to my MD return to enter information for the NY return instead of transferring the info, which is a pain due to the software not allowing me to go back to a specific part of the NY return. I had to go through all the questions again and couldn't see both state returns at once. I also had to do the math myself, subtracting money I made in NY from total-the software wouldn't do it. It seems like there should be a more straightforward way for the software to determine this instead of having me go back and forth between the two parts of the software to determine what tax I paid in one state or the other. I've gone through multiple times and hope that it is correct-the software says it is and that I don't have an audit risk, so I finally submitted it, but I'm still worried that it might not be correct. Unfortunately I have no time to go to a professional at this point. I do not recommend this software for married couples that have one spouse with different residency, or anyone with a really complicated situation.
What's great about it: putting in normal info was easy
What's not so great: There was not assistance for less common situations
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and I have found it to be very thorough. I am asked to answer all questions that I thought about and didn't know to ask. I like comparisons to prior years. The only issue (raised above) is that I cannot do an eFile because the IRS sent me a 6 digit code to use to verify it is us but TurboTax only enables me to enter 5
What's great about it: All areas (income/expenses) covered - info carried forth
What's not so great: eFile ID is only 5 didits, but code received from IRS is 6 digits
Pros: I bought or sold investments, I moved

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's great about it: Except for Blank Form, everything, including Help, was smooth from start to end.
What's not so great: Editing the Blank Form is very clunky

Handled foreign investments in an awkward and cumbersome way. Did not like the fact that despite the fact all I had was a brokerage statement I had to respond as if I had an IRS tax form and had to guess at the appropriate boxes. And how am I to know what portion of my capital gains are qualifying gains?
