New to Doing Taxes

My husband always did our taxes before he got sick and I had to learn how to do them. I was very scared and he told me it was easy with Turbo Tax. If I had any questions to look up the help boxes. I'm very pleased that they were easy to understand for someone who had never done it before.
What's great about it: The program help boxes are very helpful for a first time user.

I was able to do this with my children running around the house. I have a toddler and even though she was occupied by her older sibling, I didn't fear losing my place whenever i had to stop to get them snacks, or change a diaper. Thank you for making the questions short and to the point. I felt as though this software was very thorough as well and I wasn't worried about messing up because i knew i could go back and fix things if needed. Peace of mind at its best.
What's great about it: very easy directions

Turbo Tax

I like Turbo Tax and have used it for probably 20 years.
What's great about it: I have used Turbo Tax for years. I have tried others, but find this is the easiest to work with.
What's not so great: Sometimes i think the explanations could be clearer.

Not error proof

I have been corrected by State Controller several times for incorrect refund claim submission. I have thought that I did my best to use Turbo Tax Error Review but same thing happened again for last year (2015) where my refund dropped dramatically
from 1,388 to 201 with this year's (2016) State of California Controller error adjustment. Turbo Tax is encouraging with Federal filing but not with California Tax System .

What's great about it: Detailed explanations stepwise; answers available by forum.
What's not so great: Mistakes occur but hard to fix unless you use best intuition.

Filed Past-Years Returns Today

The best part about using TurboTax to complete my tax returns was that it was not too difficult and I'm finally free from the stress that not filed a couple prior years tax returns was causing me. It's all completed now and I was able to do everything myself from home.
What's great about it: Easy to create professional-looking, printed returns
What's not so great: e-filing was closed for 2012-2014 tax years

Lost Prior Year Returns

The last two years my digital returns were not saved by TurboTax to my PC. This year after filing I saved a PDF file copy. Checking back later after the return had been accepted, the only digital copy of my return that I found was in the Trash.
What's great about it: Thorough, easy to follow, uses prior year info
What's not so great: Lost last two years returns; K1's hard to follow

K! Problem

Would not E-file as I was getting an error. I downloaded a K1 from financial institution and turbo tax error said I could not have 2 Federal entries on 1 K1 and to file another K1. Thought it was supposed to be automatic, not that I had to manually create another K1.
What's great about it: 99% good
What's not so great: Problem with K!
Pros: I bought or sold investments
