By the time I finished my taxes I had spent hours repeatedly going back through several tedious series of questions in order to make minor changes. In the process I frequently found myself confused as to the context in which I was being asked the questions. Even though I have used TurboTax for several years I always dread using it and come away feeling insecure as to whether I have properly entered everything.
What's great about it: Easy access to reference material
What's not so great: Troublesome user interface

Turbo Tax Deluxe and Turbo Tax Business

Each year Turbo Tax gets better and easier to use. I love the step by step instructions and the review process. I prepare my Sub S Return with Turbo Tax Business and my personal 1040 with Turbo Tax Deluxe.

Yet Once Again

Yet once again there was no obvious way to complete the Allocation of Income portion of the City of Detroit in the step by step format. I finally went into forms and completed it myself.
What's great about it: Overall Great
What's not so great: City of Detroit Return

Good tax software and easy to use

Overall a great product, but a couple times information I entered disappeared and showed up as missing in final reviews. I fixed all this but I don't know why it disappeared originally.
What's great about it: easy use and back feature works well
What's not so great: under strange conditions info that you enter gets left out
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Nice to have continuity with other years. Not clear where all numbers came from - might have given us chance to see the particular IRS form being used - and how you got the number inserted. But easy to use, and friendly (if IRS stuff can ever be friendly). MIght have been nice to let us know earlier that my deluxe version required extra money for a state filing.

I have used Turbotax for over 5 years and it has improved
a lot over the years. The E-File is great. No worries about postal deadlines and stuffing envelopes. I like that I can retrieve previous years filings too. Computers die and take info with them into the next electronic life.

2015 had a hard time finding and using 2014 TurboTax info
The explanations were not clear, I had to go to the IRS site several times to be sure I was using the deductions correctly

I have been using TurboTax for many years. Consistently good. Easy to use. Simple instructions that even an idiot like me can follow. I would never consider using a different product.
What's great about it: Simple step-by-step instructions.
What's not so great: None.
