The only way to do your taxes!!!

Excellent!!!!
What's great about it: Walks you through step by step.
What's not so great: Would not pay my pay my tax due.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Used TurboTAX (and MacTax) for 20 years now. Only way to do taxes without going to an accountant.
What's great about it: Well organized software with very good supporting documentation on the IRS rules
What's not so great: Still have to go into IRS documents to understand some of the more complex tax issues

Except for the reporting of a 1099 Misc from previous employer (retired LEO) properly, all good. The only place TT would allow me to report (other than income section) the "backup" for the 1099 Misc was as a business. And my circumstances did not fit any box and I would up paying $68 in tax to IRS for this business - which is NOT a business, but a retirement benefit for money to apply to insurance. Amount based on number of year's service. Could not find anything on TT to help me and no response to questions. Disappointing. I am sending a letter with my check to IRS stating same.
What's great about it: Most easy to follow. Brings information forward from previous year return.
What's not so great: No adequate form found to report 1099 Misc that was cash from employer for insurance subsidy

20+ Years using Turbo Tax

I've done my taxes every year with Turbo Tax since 1994, except for 2009 tax return due to my divorce and needing professional help. This year I did tax return for myself, my wife, and my retired Mother In-Law in about 8 hours of work in under a week's time.
What's great about it: Easy to use, prior year data transfers, brokerage data import
What's not so great: More expensive than other tax products.
