TurboTax found a few deductions I would have overlooked and checked all income sources. It did the calculations quickly and allowed detailed review of results. However, our pension payments were not originally properly characterized for our state return and if I had not suspected a problem would have resulted in a large tax owed rather than a refund. There should be a question on the pension entry forms about how to characterize them with a clear explanation of the different options.
What's great about it: covered most bases
What's not so great: missed categorizing retirement benefits for MI state

TurboTax is a great. It is a simplified program that allows one to easily access different parts of the tax return process.

Great year-to-year transfer

Started with Turbo Tax from the first year it was offered.
Great consistency!

What's great about it: Easy access, easy transfer from previous year, and terrific online help
What's not so great: When calling up a specific form, e.g., 2106, there appears to be no way to immediately call up the "walk through"

I've used Turbotax for many years now and have always found it to be excellent software. It handles all of my tax needs in a simple and efficient way and the explanations offered for individual entries are exceptionally helpful. I heartily recommend this software.
What's great about it: Quick, easy to follow and thorough
What's not so great: Nothing, really- the improvements you made for this year made it much easier

This year was a little harder.

On the first go round I had many duplicated answers and many extra forms. I had to print and look at the place in the return where something like, mortgage deduction, went. There was the home place and home office place. Turbo tax did not automatically do the percentage of deduction I could take for a home office. In fact since I had TWO home offices that complicated things a lot.

Excellent lay out and easy to use

I have used Turbo Tax for years and always find it helpful and easy to use. Very very user friendly except for unusual transactions.
What's great about it: Really like the interview layout and how it really leads you to explore areas that you may have forgotten about.
What's not so great: Sometimes hard to figure out how to input unusual transactions
